when i was younger, i liked to hang out with the adults. i didn't feel like i fit in too well with my cousins and stuff. now that i'm older, i'd much rather hang out with the kids or teens. for instance, saturday we had a bday party for my fil. i colored with my 5 year old niece and played with my 2 year old nephew. my bff's teenage dd & her boyfriend came in the room and colored and talked with me. then me, bff's dd and her boyfriend went to the mall and picked up my ds and his bff. we got starbucks and laughed and talked. teenagers are fun and interesting. little kids are innocent and say the cutest things. i liked it better then being around the loud, drinking adults. am i weird?

Being a mom isn't a job. It's a volunteer position.

My son came home to visit this weekend and was shocked to find that we were out of white sugar. We've been out for at least a month. We just don't use it.

I cannot believe I didn't gain any weight with all the food-eating I did this weekend. Yogurt cups, eggo waffles, turkey sandwiches, tacos, pork loin, oh, and copious amounts of beer.

I have the next two Fridays off and I'll be spending those two days at the beach! Screw the housechores-it's not like I'm not going to clean over the weekend anyway! I need the time alone. I'll drop off my kids at school and I'll ride my bike at least 4 miles on the bike path and then I'll read some sort of trash book (and not a self help book!) while laying on the sand, under the sun for hours. I love my family, I have good kids/DH, but damn it..I give too much of myself to others and not enough for me-to me. Mom guilt sucks. I need to get over it; the kids are old enough now where they don't need me.

When my son was a newborn he napped for maybe 4 hours most days, between 2-3 naps. And because I did all the night time stuff with him when he napped I napped too. But about one day a week he would sleep almost 12 hours during the day. I did some house chores, and I'd do some stuff that I wanted to do... Read, puzzles... My husband knew how it was and if he really wanted something done he'd do it himself or wait until I got around to it. The only thing I did daily was the dishes. Dh was usually home to help keep ds busy but he was also perfectly happy on one of those playmats with stuff hanging over him to bat at.

We just regifted one of DD6's birthday presents to another friend. Even though DD was ok with it, the toy was in its original packaging and had never been taken out/played with, and the original giver and the current recipient don't know each other, I still feel bad about it. I just didn't have the money to buy yet another birthday present this week.

I can't act like Varsity parents are superior me (a JV parent). It's high school sports, people. In fact, it's the kids who are not in sports at all who are more likely to set the world on fire. I just rocked your world, right?
