I must be white trash because I know tons of people who have had DUI's. No one really looks down on them that I know of. If anything, people feel sorry for them and act like they're the victim, like those mean old cops wouldn't give them a break. Right now, there's a guy I know who got hammered and wrecked his motorcycle. He's in the hospital. A couple of local bars have held charity events to raise money for him. It's not that I don't want him to be ok. I do, but this is a man who's nearing 50 yrs. old. He knows better. I realize that it's in poor form to speak ill of someone who's coping with a tragedy, but no one seems to think he did anything wrong. I can't really say that I feel sorry for him, but then again, I'm not as fond of him as some of these other people are. He almost died. He's doing much better now, but still hospitalized. He has VA insurance, so his medical bills are covered. Several thousand dollars were raised to pay his household bills and probably fix his bike. I doubt he'll learn his lesson.
