How about TV shows/movies as a teen? I was practically raised on Buffy. Other favourites included the Craft, Scream and all it's inferior copies like Urban Legend and I Know What You Did Last Summer. And lots of terrible teen "makeover" movies like She's All That, Never Been Kissed and 10 Things I hate About You. What's even cringier is I still love a lot of those!

Pony books. Every pony book you've ever heard of. And many you haven't. I was a bit of an odd kid so I preferred old fashioned books like Enid Blyton. And really old pony stories from the 40s-70s. I did like Sweet Valley and the Babysitters for a little while, but then it was the Earth's Children series (still love Clan of the Cave Bear). And Witch Child...which is a great read even as an adult, I recommend it to everyone!

The Baby Sitters Club books, Judy Blume, that book Thirteen (that was theme of the week), then subsequently Fourteen and Fifteen in the series, practically raised me from 9 to 13. After 13 - 16, I fed off Stephen King mostly, John Grisham, Agatha Christie. After 16, because I thought I was soooo deep, I was really into Ayn Rand.

Judy Blume. Shel Silverstein. Dr. Suess. John Grisham. James Patterson. It's all I know. I'm not cool though, obviously. Meh.

My mom got me hooked on Nurse Jackie over spring break. It makes me wish I would have become a nurse instead of a teacher.

It's kind of interesting how George Clooney got engaged right after Stacey Keibler got married. Neither of them have been in their new relationships very long. Then I read Stacey is pregnant, so that explains her quick marriage. lol!

So George Clooney is engaged to Amal Alamuddin. Why do I keep reading her name as "Anal A La Mode"?

I'm watching 16 & Preg (don't judge me) and the paternal grandmom is totally ragging on the teen mom while she is nursing the baby. I think she's wrong. She couldn't wait until she took baby off her breast and put him down so they could talk? The teen mom seems like she wants to do better and cares for her baby. (Who is too cute!)

Of course I was being sarcastic when using the words "cool" and "edgy". Carry on.

Ok, so Irvine Welsh is my favorite author. His subject matter is almost always dark and depraved. Of course I wouldn't expect everyone to embrace his work. Just because he is my favorite author doesn't mean I can't respect someone who is appalled by his work, because it *is* appalling. I know that. I also don't care if people think it's trash lit or has the makings of classics, besides, don't book/movie/music snobs take pride in liking things that other people typically don't? I thought that's what made them cool and edgy.
