In response to a confession. I refer to my CW as bipolar because her behavior fits the description of the disorder. One day she came in pretty chipper. Within 10 minutes she was agitated and saying she had to go home because "this place is toxic" when not one person had said a word. She can be happy, pensive, nervous, pissed off and raging at one or more of us and back again all in the course of a couple hours. Sooo after about a week of being her target, she's now done a 180 and has been as sweet as pie to me for the past several days. She even brought me coffee and a pastry. This reminds me of my mother, who was in fact bipolar, who would beat the shit out of me for no reason, and then buy me something expensive to make up for it.

Well. I didn't get the DNR job. She called me personally and said that I was extremely qualified but that they had another candidate who already had experience and she had some sort of disability which meant she had to work at a desk all the time. But: she let me in on another DNR job that will be opening in a couple weeks for an effluent limits calculator and she says she thinks I will be really good for it. She encouraged me to apply once it's posted. So I will do exactly that. I'm determined to do this.

I sent the DNR supervisor a follow-up email, thanking her again for the interview. I also mentioned I was extremely interested in the position. She hasn't responded yet. I was supposed to hear back about the job early this week and nothing yet. I probably didn't get it :( FML. Why won't anyone hire me?

So update on my DNR job. I thought I was supposed to hear back by now, but I didn't. I got an email from one of my references. He said he received an email today from the DNR supervisor asking about me and he told me he wrote me an amazing review and that he hopes I get the job!! Maybe I will hear back tomorrow. I guess it takes a little while for them to check with all your references.

In response to a confession. Can we not refer to people who have rage issues as being "bipolar"? That term gets thrown around negatively so much and it's just not fair. Several very dear friends of mine are bipolar as is my MIL and none of them have rage issues. Mostly they have issues with sleeping too much sometimes and then having bursts of very productive time.

Things with SCW (sabotaging coworker) haven't gotten much better. I think she's bipolar. Nice one minute, raging the next. Per my job description, I'm available afterhours in urgent matters. But everything is urgent to her and I was feeling like a personal assistant. After doing much of her work over the weekend, and then having her rage when I stopped responding Sun night, she raged at me via email and in person on Mon morning. And raged some more when she saw she wasn't affecting me, lol. After talking to the boss, he announced that afternoon that from now on, no one is to contact me after 5pm or on weekends with the exception of the urgencies he outlined. She asked if <issue from Sun nite> was urgent and he said, "Somewhat, but it's something you can do yourself." So two more days of rage and a text at 7:30pm tonite, asking to do the same thing as she did on Sun nite. I said no. Can't wait until tomorrow!

One of my college professors gave me a word of advice, years ago. She said that whenever you have an interview, send a handwritten thank you note. Already have it ready to go with a stamp, and when you leave, then put the interviewer's name on it and drop it in a mailbox, so they'll get it the next day. Worked for me.

Man I have a coworker I think is really cool. We have a lot in common and shoot the shit frequently. But this week she's said some shit that makes me think she sucks as a human and has me questioning why I like her. One being how anti vaccine she is and another being that she doesn't know why women would want to go to women-only events, and that there should be men-only events too, and why should we be afraid of men? Yikes.
