I've only been at my new job a little while and already one chick doesn't like me. I've been taking on a lot of extra projects that are time-sensitive, including some that she was supposed to be working on. She works from home a lot and honestly I wonder if she's getting as much done there as I am at the office. I took one too many of her projects on and she snapped at me and told me she was going to take it back. Fine, geez, chill out. I only wanted to do what was going to help our company get things done faster.

In response to a confession. Okay, it HAS to be the glasses. I've been wearing them all week. A good-looking older guy has talked to me more in the last few days than he has the whole time I've been there, and has even been stopping by my office just to say hello or goodnight at the end of the day. I saw him by the copier today and were talking about our weekend plans. Then he said that he needed a girlfriend - "A girlfriend like you." And young guy has been talking to me every day, too, instead of just nodding at me. What the hell???

In response to a confession. That's how you know you're getting somewhere.

A couple months ago the office was abuzz about the hot, young new guy who just started. I'm 48 and married and have no interest in that way, but I just wanted to see for myself. His office is by mine, so I stopped by to introduce myself. Yep, he's hot. I see him every day, whether it be in the halls or the kitchen, and we basically just nod to each other. I have an eye infection, so today I went in with my hair just in a bun, no eye makeup, and wearing my glasses. Ran into him in the kitchen, and he said, "Good morning, (my name)," and started a conversation with me. We haven't said two words to each other in all this time, and I was surprised that he remembered my name. It just kind of took me aback.

I had the meeting that my mentor roped me into, and it was fantastic. I saw him later that day and he apologized. It's all good.

So annoyed! My mentor cc'd me on an email about a lunch with some people in the same field who wanted to talk about doing a project together. I set it up. Then he called me to see if I could ask them to switch the day. It's not like he couldn't do that himself, but I got it switched. I texted him yesterday to ask him if he had any specific advice about the goals for this meeting, in case he couldn't come, because he hasn't responded to any emails on the thread since he copied me. No reply, but today he texted me to tell me he couldn't come. These people are inviting us to work with them, but it looks like I'm going to be the one doing the work. Lately I feel like he only has time for me when he wants something.

I don't want to do this but i think i have to. my boss is horrible at replying to her emails. she either never responds or takes forever to if she does (like months later). i'm finding this incredibly annoying and disrespectful. i work the night shift which means i never actually see her so if i have a question or concern, email is the only route i have. i get that she's busy but i still think she could find a few minutes out of her day to respond to me especially since she knows i can't talk to her in person. I'm gonna start cc-ing her supervisor all the emails i send to her and see if she can magically find a way to respond then.

I did not know there was a "work" category! Nice, even though I don't have a job right now. Haha.

In response to a confession. I do this, too. I got really behind in work recently because we got so busy, so I took my files home one weekend. But just thinking about it made me so anxious that I didn't even start until very late Sunday night. It just seemed so daunting. But once I got started, I realized how much I love my work, and it was easy. Except for the fact that I had so much to do that I didn't finish until 3am and had to be up at 6 :(

In response to a confession. The only trouble is I'm having a very hard time focusing right now. Between my break up because I fell for/cheated on with coworker (now out of state), snapping at coworkers, and making mistakes at work... life feels like fked up sh*t show right now. Work is just going to ramp up.
