I'm one of the people who posted about not wanting anymore pets. I don't hate my dog, but I have grown to hate having a dog. And she's not even elderly. She is way messier than my kids ever were, without even trying. She can't eat without tracking food everywhere, Same with water. Dog fur EVERYWHERE. She doesn't have accidents, per se, but she has known to get sick - from either end. Vet thinks it's from eating acorns. How do we keep her from eating acorns? It's not like we can just get rid of all the acorns. I hate the dog crap in the backyard. Etc. Etc. My kids grew out of all of that. I only had to clean up their crap for a couple years. Not the case with dogs. I just get absolutely no pleasure from having a pet.

Why can't I stop eating? I stick to a pretty healthy / Paleo diet, but I just eat so much. Almonds are healthy, right? Well, I easily eat a one pound bag in a sitting. Strawberries are good, right? Well, not if you eat the entire two pound carton at once. Found a super-healthy chicken recipe (basically just skinless chicken thighs and herbs). Well, I ate 8 pieces at once. I've been like this my whole life. I remember being 4 years old and sneaking to eat entire packs of raw hot dogs. I'd save money and buy and eat entire cakes. I watch shows like My 600 Pound Life, and I get it. That could easily be me. I was obese but am now only about 15 pounds overweight, because I cut out junk and sugar. I just eat SO much. I've been to doctors, therapists, even a hypnotist. Nothing works. Phentermine did help, but that's not really healthy and can only be used for a short period of time. I just want to eat like a normal person.

On Friday I was walking out of DS daycare-was just dropping something off so I was alone, it’s in a residential area so there are always people walking around with their dogs. As I exited the gate and stepped onto sidewalk, a man with his little Maltese were there. The little doggy approached me tail wagging and stopped to smell me and even put his paw on my foot, luckily I love dogs so I did not care. So when i bend down to pet him, (owner didn’t even try to pull dog off me) the owner got snippy and told me “don’t pet my dog without asking”. I was taken aback but I immediately told him “don’t let your dog on me without asking”. He just mumbled and we went our separate ways. Jerk.

I had enough hemoglobin to give blood today! Woot! Just barely, but enough. They want 12.5, and I was 12.6! Woohoo! DH was at 16 today. The liquid iron is working! I've been putting 1t in some water every day, but the actual dose is 1T but I was afraid of it messing with my stomach. But it didn't and it barely has any flavor at all. Tastes like berry. So, I gave blood for the first time ever. Then after I got home I fell so fast asleep for an hour and a half and now I woke up and DD is gone to work and DH is gone (I think on a fire run, otherwise he leaves notes) and I'm all alone with the dogs.

11 years we have been together. When I start thinking maybe I need to put more effort into the relationship, he's not so bad. He proves me wrong. He quit his job without notice, came home flipping out, has been mean and lazy. Every day off I've had for the last 3 weeks has been catching up on laundry, dishes and home improvement projects alone. This week was the first day and only day I could relax. Ruined again. He acts like I should do it all, is a ass and thinks when I crawl into bed exhausted he can rub on me. (Fuck that) treating me like total shit is done. I have to get out with my dogs. I have big dogs so finding a place is the most difficult part. I am done being treated like shit. He doesn't love me. I'm just a free maid and handy woman. I quit.

People really suck. I was walking my dog near some outdoor concert-type thing where a bunch of people were sitting on the ground. I had her leash very short so she wouldn't get too close to anyone, but some guy sitting close to where I was walking kicked her! Like, WTF? She wasn't even very close to him--he went out of his way to stretch his foot out and kick her legs. God, why are people such total a-holes? If you don't like dogs fine, but don't kick them! He's lucky I didn't kick him back.

Give the dog to the dogsitter, and get the kids a pet that is more compatible with your family. The kids need to learn that the happiness of an animal matters.

I can’t stand our dog. She loves her dogsitter and her dogsitter calls the dog “her heart” and lets her sleep in her bed. If it were just me and DH, I’d give her to the dogsitter. But my kids would be heartbroken, so I keep the dog to avoid breaking my kids’ hearts.

People who make snap judgments about dogs based on their breed really irk me. You could make generalizations about any breed and it can usually be traced back to poor training and sometimes genetics. My parents have always had Shelties, which are supposedly very barky and have a strong herding instinct. One of theirs barely ever barked and only one of them ever barked excessively. You need to evaluate each dog as an individual instead of lumping them into categories by breed.
