I was reading about something called "bulletproof coffee," which is coffee with butter in it. Its benefits are, supposedly, increased energy, mental focus, and *weight loss.* Then it occurred to me--you know how we scoff at all the weird/gross things people in Asia and Africa eat "because they're aphrodisiacs"? In the US you just slap a label like "may result in weight loss" on any disgusting thing (coffee with butter melted in it, perhaps) and people will try it. I need to come up with a scam like that.

Is it normal to upgrade your engagement ring every year or every so often? I didn't think it was, but this group of women (who were the only women in the area I knew at the time) kept asking when I was going to upgrade my ring. Why would I want to? What about sentimental value? It's not like my ring isn't lovely to begin with. I think it's a 1/3 karat. I don't even know.

I love my MIL, I really do. But listening to her tell me about her atrophic vaginitis and how my FIL won't let her run out of her estrogen cream because it might mean her vagina will grow shut...well, let's just say no amount of mental floss is out there that will be able to get that image out of my mind. WAY too much info, MIL.

My cousin is mentally ill and spends most of her day either on Facebook or internet forums. I had to unfriend her because she would post the craziest rants on Facebook and get into fights with people. I once told her about a weight loss forum I'm on and she joined it and started all kinds of trouble with her nasty trolling. I was so humiliated (she made it known that she knew me) I had to leave. I would NEVER tell her about this site. I ALMOST made the mistake of mentioning Truu but so glad I didn't. She has her good moments but then they always pass and she becomes unstable. I KNOW I never told her about this place, but someone here sounds a lot like her and it freaks me out. I almost feel like it's her and she is purposely trying to ruin it for me.

I'm completely disgusted by my brother and his GF. They both sit around all day doing nothing but smoke pot. Neither of them work because the are both on disability for mental illness. Now I find out they are using the food bank because they have no money. I am just disgusted that they are taking food from people who really need it but spend what money they have on pot and cigarettes. I do not for a minute, believe that they are not capable of working at something. They just think the world owes them.

I really don't deal well with crazy people. When someone has a mental illness I know I should be more understanding, but my immediate reaction is disgust.

Funny how people call you out for being judgemental...and presumptuous...then proceed to be judgemental and presumptuous.

Sigh. I come from a pro-smacking family. We were smacked as children (nothing abusive) and my siblings smack their children because I guess it's 'normal' to them (again, NOTHING abusive). And that's fine, not great but what ever works for them, I don't judge. But the thing is, I don't smack my children; I worked in the childcare industry for a long time before having kids and have learnt many many many alternatives to smacking that actually work. I also learnt what is developmentally expected of children. I wont smack a toddler for being a toddler! I prefer TEACH them than punish them. The methods we use do work, we have very well behaved children and get complimented on their behavior all the time. In fact they rarely misbehave at all. They're not perfect by any means, and they do 'get in trouble', we don't let them get away with poor behavior. We simply choose not to smack. But my family are constantly suggesting I smack them! I was talking about my toddler always climbing and having to watch her closely and having to move dangerous things she climb. My sisters answer- just smack her. Me- well it doesn't really work. Her- then smack her harder. NO!! How about I just watch her, teach her not to do it and move things that she could seriously hurt herself on? Why is it so hard for them to understand that we are doing things our own way?

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, and I don't know much about politics, but I know gawd damn asshole when I see one. Being snotty and hateful isn't a good quality to have when you want to preach about how it's so much better to be a republican. Being a nice person and non-judgmental and actually caring about other people besides yourself are good qualities no matter what party you choose to be on. So sick of everything turning into a bashing of the impoverished and minorities. They preach about how folks back in the day were so sophisticated and put together and we should learn from them, but yet, here they are today being hateful assholes. People nowadays just don't know how to act anymore.

My dad recently gave me his old pocket watch that he had a a kid. My brothers found out about it and threw a fit. My mom told me that my brothers wanted the watch, oh you are breaking my heart (jk). My dad said that the reason I got it (I am his daughter) is because he doesn't trust them with it. My older brother may pawn it for alcohol while the other one would let his son play and possibly break it. Sorry mom I know you spoil the boys a lot but I don't ask anything of dad and he knew that I would take care of it because I know the sentimental value this watch has (it has been insured by me.) My mom made it sound like she expected me to give the watch to one of them. Sorry to break it to you too mom but I don't trust your sons either.
