Where I live, everyone knows someone's uncle's best friend from Canada who just had to travel to America for life saving surgery because the Communist Canadian healthcare system was going to kill them. It's bullshit. It's alllll bullshit.

My Auntie recently posted an article on FB- "How Did America Reach This New Level of Moral Decay?" The answer, apparently, is that God is afflicting America due to Marxism, Political Correctness, and Secularism, all of which are apparently being promulgated in public schools. Because of this, God is angry and this is why there are so many mass shootings. My Auntie knows I am a teacher, she knows I am involved in progressive politics, and she knows I am not religious. She has a right to post whatever she wants, and believe whatever she wants, but this in particular was hurtful. I don't respond to these posts at all. I don't post hateful things. I also don't go visit her any more. It's a long drive, and I love her, but it's not just that our politics are different- the times are different, and I know what side i'm on.

If someone has a male boss who is an asshole, then it's just that he's an asshole. If someone has a female boss and she's an asshole, then it's because she's a woman and woman bosses are difficult. Somehow it becomes representative of the entire gender. After having a really difficult black or Hispanic boss, would you say that you hate working for African Americans or Hispanics? Would you automatically label them all as assholes? Probably not, but it happens with women all the time. Women shouldn't be this or do that. It's bullshit.

Also, you need to understand how animal shelters work. This isn't 1953, where animals are simply euthanized. The majority of shelters in America try extremely hard to maintain a no kill standard. As long as the dog isn't aggressive or terminally ill, there's about a 99% chance that it will be adopted by people who actually WANT it and pay to treat the fleas. Spreading the idiotic rhetoric that shelters kill is so harmful. I work with a group that helps find lost animals, and that sort of mindset keeps people from helping found animals. They think they're better off on the streets than at a shelter. People will actually post a picture of a lost dog in their yard and say they didn't want to call the "dogcatcher," so they let it "go free." So incredibly stupid. And that poor dog deserves better.

I wish people would stop posting about Valerie Harper's death. Yes it's sad and I loved her on MTM show but I think everyone in America knows by now.

Most Americans eat TOO MUCH protein, not too little. Yeah, they eat too many carbs too, sure. But the protein craze is kind of ridiculous. Very few people are suffering from protein malnutrition. It's just another ploy to get you to purchase overpriced protein shakes and powders. Those things are good if you're a serious athlete but how many people really are? Hitting the gym twice a week doesn't count. Just eat a real-foods balanced diet.

Some people are still disowned by their families for being gay. Anti-LGBT hate crimes have been on the rise. From an article tracking hate crimes in DC "The data show there were a total of 97 reported hate crimes in the nation’s capital in 2018 based on the victims’ sexual orientation or gender identity or expression, representing an increase from 59 such cases in 2016 and 69 anti-LGBT hate crimes reported in 2017." The NYT reports that "lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people were already the most likely targets of hate crimes in America, according to an analysis of data collected by the Federal Bureau of Investigation." So yeah, some people still feel the need to cover up being gay.

Yup, I understand all of that and I never said immigrants shouldn't be allowed insurance coverage. I'm saying it's absolute bullshit to charge working poor American citizens a penalty for not being able to afford ridiculously expensive insurance that doesn't cover jack shit, and then in the same breath say that people who are in the country illegally should get free coverage. That's what Biden is offering up and it's WRONG.

Biden has said he wants to bring back the penalty to punish Americans, while providing free healthcare to illegal immigrants. I think that's what the OP was referring to?

A huge part of the problem is that Americans think that health care COSTS what they are being CHARGED for it. It doesn't. Ask.... shit, any other country in the world. You are being grossly overcharged for everything. No wonder Americans are so worried about how to pay for universal health care. They think health care costs a fortune. Not for the rest of the world, America. This is what your government has done to you, brainwashed you into thinking that is what it actually costs. You just don't know any better. Time to wake up and take a look at what's possible in other places across the globe. This is NOT as good as it gets, America. Do better.
