A lady I went to school with had a huge wedding that included 12 brides maids. She repeatedly asked that people give money for bridal and wedding gifts instead of items to help cover the cost of her wedding because they couldn't afford it but always went on about how she deserved a big wedding. She auctioned off invites if people would work for free to help set up and take down the decor, serve food and drinks and park cars. She is in the ministry profession and locally has done a lot of good but boy has she perfected the give me in the name of Jesus routine. She would post update videos about what she had planned for the wedding and then proceed to ask for money because she has had a hard life and does all these wonderful things for God. It was disgusting but people in the community fell over themselves to help her because it was for a God fearing woman. I bet she didn't spend a dime of her own money for 300 guest wedding. She didn't have a paying job and her DH worked at starbucks.

When my husband and I were looking for a church, we purposely showed our tattoos when we were attending services. We didn't wear crazy clothes or anything. We just wore short sleeved shirts that didn't hide our tattoos. If people were judgmental assholes, including the pastors, we didn't go back. It took us over six months to find a church where the good, love thy neighbor Christians were genuinely friendly, kind people. I love the church we go to, but damn. I totally understand why people have an aversion to Christianity. I love Jesus but a good deal of His followers are judgmental dicks. (Neither of us have offensive tattoos, btw.)

I don't think it's a particular type of church. Christianity as a whole is pretty misogynistic and aims to shame. It's cool when people can separate Jesus from the crazy fire and brimstone

This is the OP who wrote the confession about being separated and wondering how I'm going to navigate dating again. I don't ever want to get married, again, either. I tried it once, it's not for me. I am also in my 40s, childfree, and I never want another guy to live with me again, and most men are looking for someone younger, they want to have a kid or two, and want to move in with a woman and/or get married, so I know the odds are already stacked against me. I'm sure there is another someone out there for me, but jesus f'in christ on a cracker, it's going to be difficult! ARGGHH!!

As a person that issues tax documents like W2's to people.... PLEASE for the love of everything holy PLEASE name your children a NAME.. and one that is spelled like it should be!!! Jesus H. Christ I am sick and tired of re-issuing W2's because it's not just Jessika with a "K", it's Jessikaa with a "K" and TWO (count 'em) TWO "A"'s at the end. Jesus Christ, the amount of grown adults who have come in to shop at my store (nothing we sell is essential) and proceed to cough all over everything and everyone is too damn high! Where are your manners? Cough into your elbow, or better yet, don't go shopping when you're fucking sick.
