Ok, so I'm decluttering. The Harry Potter books. I've read them all once, right after I bought them. Haven't touched them since, though I wouldn't mind "one day" rereading them. I don't have any children to pass them on to. Keep or give away?

I started doing some at home transcription last week, and have come to realize I hate it. I adore typing and I'm really great at proofreading, so I thought I would enjoy this. I was wrong. The audio is terrible, and 90% of the time I can't understand a word of it. And the grading system is completely brutal. They throw you out there with no assistance and cut your "grade" if you have even 1 minor error. I need a job where I just type out handwritten scripts or books or something.

I am really and truly angry with everyone who voted for Trump. I have been reading books about Russia after the Cold War, oligarchy, the privatization of public services, the corruption, it goes on and on. I would suggest the book "Nothing is True and Everything is Possible" by Peter Pomerantsev for insight into the U S's future under Trump, along with other books on Russian history. Those who voted for this mockery of democracy should really be ashamed of what they've done. Of their ignorance. Of their regard for party over reality and what the U.S. stands for. And don't bother arguing with me, trumpeters. I don't respect or care what you think.

Had a strange $100 "adjustment" to our account. Call the bank-- "oh, a customer was balancing their checkbook from TWO YEARS AGO and realized they were charged $100 for something that we determined should have actually come out of your account. It was a bank error." First off, WTF? Second, who balances check books from 2 years ago? Thirdly, why would you not inform a loyal and long-time customer before you cause them to overdraft from a mistake that was yours? And I can't pitch a fit because I'm not primary on the account. And my dh refuses to say anything. I'm really angry. I feel like it was handled really unprofessionally. And of course, as I don't keep bank statements for more than a few months, I have no way to prove whether or not it actually should have been charged to us. Lesson learned, for sure.

I go to 3 goodwill locations. They all usually have good stuff, though the last few times I left empty handed. They don't have the typical goodwill stench. I used to go to more than those 3 but realized the ones that stink never had anything worth buying, so now I stick to the same 3. I have bought books there for $1 and then sold them to bookstores for $4-$8. I've thought about flipping apparel too but that takes a little too much effort for my tastes.

Irl when someone is like oh you have to read this! And it's like FSOG or any number of books that I will never read I'm like oh I just don't have the time at the moment but I'll look into it, it sounds like you really enjoyed it! I like that people read at all so I keep my negative opinions to myself. I read everything, but not really straight up romance because I think it's soft porn and I like my erotica hard core.

You may be entitled to your opinion but others are entitled to speak their mind as well. You shat on someone's reading choices but then tried to lighten it with a "no offense to others it's just not MY thing". You could have just posted that you read cookbooks and left it at that but I feel you took the chance to just insult for no reason.

Up to 1750 books read on my Goodreads list! Working on 1751. Not a romance, but I'm not averse to a good Nora Roberts occasionally. I just think how many books I've actually read, because I I started keeping track about 8 years ago and I would add books if I remembered reading them. I know there must be quite a few that I can't remember.

I'm not really into the alpha male character in romance novels either. I LOVE romance novels and there are a lot of those aggressive character types in the books, I try to keep my eye out for ones who are not like that.

I'm the OP whose dh is working locally and driving me nuts. He texted on Fri afternoon: "Pack me a bag for two days, they need me to fly out tonight to Spokane." That bag was packed in 3 minutes flat lol. Turns out they couldn't get him on a flight until Sat morning, so I got up at 4am to take him to the airport. I was so excited to have the time to actually read a book in peace that I stayed up and read until I crashed at 2pm. Slept until 5. He will be home in about 6 hours, but what a glorious two days with no noise! I didn't even turn on the tv until 9 last night. I really love the man but he needs constant stimulation. I'm going to try to get him to read one of the books I got him for Christmas (that he asked for and hasn't touched).
