I have had friends ask me when I am going to 'upgrade' to a house. These are the same friends who act sad when I invite them out for wine tasting or hiking, and they say have to work on the house instead. I really don't get why a house is suppose to be better than a condo. My place is fairly new, so I never hear my neighbors. I don't have kids or dogs, and I don't like gardening, so I have no use for a yard. I don't have room to through truly epic parties, but neither do most of my friends who have a house. We all use the same friend's 5000 sq foot house when we want to be able to invite everyone. I think the only thing a house would do for me is keep me from retiring early.

Last year, our neighbors put in a new electric fence to keep their three yappy/nippy dogs from running amok in the neighborhood. Then they built an addition on the back of their house. It's a sunroom, with a doggie door. So now when they go away, instead of boarding the dogs or getting a pet sitter/relative to watch them, they just leave them in the sunroom, with their shock collars on. That way they can come and go as they please, but not leave the property. Thing is, you're not supposed to keep the collars on a dog for more than an hour. So far they've gone away for 3 long weekends, 12 days in Europe, and now they're in FL (which we know bc all the kids are on each other's social media and their kids are sharing). AND the dogs spend most of their time outside, barking, like they are now at 1:45am. And how about when the batteries in the collars ran out and they almost got hit by cars? Or when we had to feed them? They've been reported many times. Nothing is done.

UGH!! His dog has fleas. He decided to bomb the house before treating her. And he bought cheap walmart treatment stuff that didn't work. And he let her on the couch when he knows she's not supposed to be. Guess who's getting bit up? me. His moms dog passed, so she just gave me her dogs chewable flea meds. He had been all "oh she doesn't have fleas since I bathed her and got her a flea collar". Then how come after I gave her the chewable, within 2 hours..at least 30 fleas came to the surface, dying and can't jump off? I gave her a bath to get the dead ones off of her, she's quarantined until after I clean and sanitize the whole house later and I use a flea comb on her. I pay for and do most of the work for his dog (vets, groom, feed, walks, dog hair all over, clean messes). I put my foot down after I found out the fleas are still here..I told him if he doesn't fix the flea situation in the house the right way, then she's going to go live with his mom.

Ever get tired of hearing a friend complain about the same problem over and over again? My good friend’s wife cheated on him... and for a while he still loved her and would take her back. But she was sleeping with someone he worked with and wanted a divorce. She was only nice to play mind games and try to manipulate him into signing off on a divorce agreement more beneficial to her. I told him countless times to cut contact with her. They have no kids, but they have dogs and a house. He claims he keeps the line open in case of an emergency... but every week like clockwork they talk or try to hangout and she royally pisses him off. It’s been 9 months, I’m having a hard time not getting mad every time he tells me what she did this time.

Winter Olympics memory from 8 years ago. Ex H yelling at me because DVR ran out of space. It wasn't my fault. Calling me stupid, ranting that all male skaters are gay and because of them society is going to the dogs, calling me a stupid effing C---, other filthy names, etc. etc. This went on for about 40 minutes. When I went out on the porch to get away from his rant, he locked me out of the house and went to bed. I crawled into house through an unlocked window. He claimed not to know he'd locked me out. Took me 4 years to divorce him & I can't watch Olympics without thinking of that terrible night. Very traumatizing. Divorce is made for marriages like that one.

When I get sick I don't do anything. I get so used to him doing everything for me when I'm sick that when he's gone I get irrationally angry with him. I was sick a couple of months ago and when he was home he did everything for me and then he went out of town for work and I had to get up and do stuff for ds and for the dogs and I was so mad. I expect dh to help me get better so he does. Conversely, when he's sick I baby the fuck out of him. He takes good care of me so I take good care of him.

DH wants a dog. We have 4 cats. We don't have a yard. We live in a mobile home, and we are gone about 12 hours a day during the work week. I don't want a dog. I don't LIKE dogs all that much, and I don't think it's fair to have one that will be cooped up in the house all the time. I also know that I'd have to do the bulk of the care for a dog. NO DOG. If he comes home with a dog, I just may have to make a trip to the Humane Society.. and they don't take husbands :(

Forget sick husbands and kids--sick dogs are so much worse. Or at least, mine is. She has a tummy bug and I gave her a bit of Imodium to help calm her insides down, but she moans and groans and farts and pesters me to go outside every 10 minutes. The vet says liquids and maybe a bit of bland cooked ground lean chicken and rice for a few days. It's probably something she ate. Poor pup, but I did not sleep at all last night because I was getting up every 20 minutes to let her outside.

I never want to be married again. I would rather spend the rest of my life with my dogs and cats and my friends and family and just never date ever again. And hey, if I do happen to meet someone who actually is halfway decent, MAYBE I'll give dating a shot. But I'm not holding my breath.
