Explain to me, bc I feel like an idiot. How would it have been worse for the economy to fully shut down the country for 2-4 weeks rather than now having been partially shut down for 6 months with no end in sight? Everyone here keeps screaming capitalism and shit, but I don't get it. Surely the shorter option would have been less detrimental to small businesses and nonessential big companies.

Nobody wants to defund or get rid of the police. But an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Instead of paying more money to react to crime after it happens, how about spending some of that money to prevent crime in the first place? The biggest risk factor for crime is poverty. Let's help people get out of poverty. Things like education and job training. How about free community college? And instead of having police respond to minor fender benders, have non-law enforcement employees do it. If there's somebody in a mental heath crisis, have social workers respond. Or better yet, offer affordable and accessible healthcare to prevent the crisis in the first place. Why are people so opposed to that? More cops do not mean safer communities. Some of the highest crime areas have the most cops.

Except that's not what they said. Damn, I may be mentally ill but at least I have reading comprehension. Nice attempt at spinning what was said though. Sit down, and additionally, shut the fuck up.

OP pointing out that this administration targets the mentally ill isn't sanism or ableism. Sit down.

Ugh, mental health is a struggle. Feels like I've been at a downward spiral for almost 2 weeks despite having some really good weeks before that. No energy to do anything. Feeling disconnected at work, not reaching out to friends (and vice versa), no self care, etc.

LMAO if I was calling out racism or sexism or any other ism on here, I'd get the faves and me toos, but because it's still okay to shit on the mentally ill, I get the sarcastic hugs. So nice when people are selectively bigoted.

You are aware that being shitty about mentally ill people falls under the definition of ableism, generally speaking? I suppose the term sanism would be more correct but literally nobody knows what that means. If you don't know what's ableist about the quote, "The only people who still support him are mentally ill, racist, or billionaire CEOs," I think you need to go back to ableism 101. Using the term mentally ill in this context is highly inappropriate, as if mentally ill people need more stigma, sure, let's confuse them with a bunch of fascists.

My family- my brothers, aunts, my dad- they've all recently admitted they're afraid of me and that's why they don't contact me regularly. But they won't tell me why they're afraid. I have never raised my voice, never been rude to any of them. I don't understand. The only thing I can think of is that my mom must be feeding them some bullshit behind my back, making me look like the bad guy when she's actually the psychotic one. The price for cutting people out to save your mental health is HIGH.

Also, it's such a cheap dirty trick to pull the race card when we're talking about age. People don't get beaten up by cops because of their age. People don't get refused service because of their age (unless it's someone trying to buy something they're too young to buy.) You aren't at more risk from everything from poor treatment in hospital to poor housing to environmental racism because of age. People might be rude to you about your age, although I'd argue that's kind of a ridiculous statement to make when the people in positions of power are older and many of those people are currently trying to squash the movements of younger people to change things with regard to equality, the environment, etc etc. You are not systematically discriminated against because of your age. Completely invalid comparison.
