I think it was the Philando Castle vid, the cop may be "fearing for his life" but his behaviour is over the top and hysterical. It was like watching someone who needed a psychiatric evaluation, he totally escalated the situation himself. I have to say, I have never seen a police officer in my country behave that way. I'm sure it happens and I'm no fan of the police here, but that cop had absolutely no skills in diffusing situations. I have also seen several videos where US police officers shot dogs safely behind fences and in no way a threat...NO I'm not comparing humans of any race to animals but I'm talking about the insane OTT reaction from the officers not the dogs themselves. This "shoot first, ask questions later" way of thinking is crazy. From what I've seen, the training of US police officers needs some serious evaluation and restructuring. And YES your country has a big fucking problem with racism...all countries do but the US situation seems quite unique in some ways.

I hate Trump. But I think Kathy Griffin crossed the line. Honestly, the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture was not Trump or a threat to the president or the first family, it was the families of the people who have really been beheaded by Isis and had the pictures/videos posted online. But honestly I've always hated Kathy Griffin. She makes a living putting down people for their appearance (Fashion Police). Yeah, making fun of people because you don't think they look good enough is really cool (eye roll). As a liberal, I fight for acceptance. The portrayal and criticism of women's appearances, especially in Hollywood, is offensive and does nothing but help keep women oppressed. She claims to be so liberal, but she makes her living putting down other women.

I love how you just assume Muslims know who the terrorists are in their midst. Maybe they go to the mosque in their "hey guys, I'm planning on killing a buncha people today! Let the FBI know" t-shirt. Maybe they have like a 12 step program for potential terrorists and they send out auto texts to the police, or a Catholic style confession booth with a hidden camera. My dad told me a funny story last night. My grandparents were union organizers in a southern mill town in the forties. They defied a court order to stop striking. My tiny grandmama was the union secretary but avoided arrest by only marching on the side of the picket line away from the police and then she'd walk backwards, lol. My grandad got arrested and had to spend three weekends in jail with his friends. The sheriff was their buddy so he opened all the cells so everyone could hang out and play hearts. The wives brought baskets of food which my granddad loved since by grandmom was a terrible cook. It's amazing that people like that are responsible for our 40 hour work weeks and breaks. I also researched and found out Grandmama was instrumental in getting women and minorities into the union. American badass indeed.

OMG, I am so, so sorry that happened and that your ds had to see it. Assault changes everything. In that regard, I've always made it clear to every partner that it's "One and done." If it happens once, it could happen again. I hope you make the right choice for you and your son. Also wanted to say, ds was 19 months old when I ended my relationship with his father, and it resulted in assault and the police becoming involved. Ds would not go NEAR his father while we were waiting for the police. We had 50/.50 during our custody battle, which lasted for years, and ds would FLIP every time he had to go to dad's - even telling me if he had to go he'd rather go to grandma's. I did get full custody, and even up to 5th grade ds was telling friends that he hated his dad. Like I said, assault changes everything. Be strong!
