I wish they'd bring back mental institutions. People who now live on the streets could get the care they need. Our library would smell like books instead of B.O. I could walk my dogs in the park without getting angrily accosted for money. Businesses in our downtown would not have to chase bums out of their doorways before customers come in, and they wouldn't lose business because people don't want to shop there. The outdoor soup kitchen would go away and the area would be an artists' market again.

Putting it out there! I'm writing a book (well, 3 books actually, one for each of my children). If I have no luck with a publisher I've decided to self publish them. It's been a dream/goal of mine forever and the kids are loving working on them with me.

I feel like I'm the only person alive who hasn't read any of the Harry Potter books or seen any of the movies. All Harry Potter references are totally lost on me.

I know with 99% certainty that I inadvertently taught one of my clients how to skim money from her business without visibly skewing the books. All messed up one quarter, so we had a little bookkeeping training session. Sales dipped and deposits balanced to the penny the next quarter. Ooops.

First dinner party at new apartment in the books! My sister, her partner plus my nephew visited and another sister from out of town! Not sure how I managed to have the apartment ready in time, but we rocked it! Whew!!

I helped a friend clean out her hoarder mom's house after her mom died. It was HORRIBLE. Her mom used to buy endless amounts of crap from QVC, most of which was still in the box and unused. Piles and piles and piles of cookbooks, some still in the plastic wrapping. Piles and piles and piles of T-shirts, one whole bedroom as T-shirts her mom had collected over the years, many from Goodwill and many with stains and rips. Tons of binders filled with clipped recipes. Endless mason jars filled with trinkets, nails, paper clips, tacks. Piles and piles of old mail, bags of it, some never opened. Stacks of decaying magazines. Plastic containers from takeout, stacked in corners. Dog dishes and dog toys, even though the dog had long since passed away, there must have been 18 dog beds in different parts of the house. Pots and pans from yard sales, casserole dishes and kitchen implements, many in boxes taped shut for years. It was awful. Don't do this to your kids.

The crap from my parents was overwhelming after they died. An attic full of things like 3 plastic Xmas trees all crumbled to dust. Old sheet music old books, rotting clothes that no one has worn since 1950. Hoarded knick knacks totally not valuable, cosmetics 20 years old, every paper from every transaction they ever made. Bed linens 50 years old at least. Clothes that hadn't fit for 50+ years. Clean out your houses, people. No child wants or deserves such a mess.

I'm thinking of reading the Harry Potter books. I'm 45 years old. I don't care for the fantasy world stuff, I did see the first movie and thought it was well made and I was entertained, but I feel like it's for teenyboppers, but yet, I hear they are great books.

I put myself through college too. I applied for loans and held a part time job all through college to pay for books, food, etc. My parents never reviewed my grades or EVER contacted the school for any reason. It was my deal. I got a job immediately after graduating. I paid off my loans myself and in ten years, once they were paid off, I bought my first house. I think a lot of young people today are so infantilized, I meet 31 year olds who can't even keep their bills straight or manage their time efficiently. It's sad.
