As someone who was once married to a man with mental illness, I seriously feel for her. I understand her wanting to stand by her husband. I just wonder what her breaking point will be with his behavior.

My ex has borderline personality disorder. When I started dating again, I was insanely picky. I have severe anxiety, ptsd, ocd, and depression, all treated with cbt and medication. I spent YEARS trying to help a mentally ill, abusive man who refused to get help. He used my own mental health against me to gaslight me. When he was FINALLY diagnosed, he blamed me and refused treatment. I still can't believe I wasted so much time with that prick. There seems to be a narrative these days that gives a pass to bad behavior if it's done due to mental illness, which is unfortunate. If a man is mentally ill it's not your job to rehab him! I don't care if that sounds cold. Run!

My mom had a breakdown again. It was smaller compared to last time, but I still had an emotional reaction. I told her not to yell at me and raised my voice. I was more reactive than I would have liked. I wish I didn't get triggered so much, but she immediately goes to worst case scenarios and blows things out of proportion. This issue was regarding housing and how my brother couldn't help her with something, she immediately thought she would be homeless if she didn't turn it in. She has an undiagnosed mental illness and its hard to talk sense since life has been a struggle. I need to just be firm, give her facts and not be reactive. I almost cried talking to her. Again, did not think our call would get me triggered. Ugh, so much healing I need to do around my family. I wish my brother would just help her, but I get he's really tired and triggered, too.

I will never date/marry a bipolar man, ever again! After my marriage ended I realized just how awful it was, living with someone who did nothing to help himself, wasn't interested in learning about his condition, and wouldn't take meds. Finally started dating a healthy man and wow, 100% difference! (disclaimer:not knocking mental disease or anyone who has one, and my marriage didn't end solely for this reason ). Can't believe I wasted all those years trying to help him.

I can't believe that 6 of 9 seedlings are producing. I'm very pleasantly happy! I have 2 tomato plants, cucumbers, banana peppers, some kind of purple speckled fall bean, and zucchini. I've already tasted cucumber (omg, sweetest one I've ever had!) and will eat my zucchini tonight. I am learning about horticultural therapy and it's really doing wonders for my mental health.

Googled "old people with tattoos" and actually I think a bunch of them look bomb, so thanks. We all get wrinkly and saggy, I don't think they look any worse than other people their age. This post just drips ignorance and boomer mentality. If I were the OP I would still get the sewing machine, but I am so over people's judgmental ignorance over tattoos. We aren't all idiots that want something like a Barbie logo or stick and poke prison tattoos, some of us have had the same tattoo ideas for decades. Also if there are regrets, there's this wonderful thing called laser tattoo removal, which is far from perfect, will probably improve vastly in technology in the next couple of decades. So yeah, Okay Boomer.

Also, I had trauma growing up with an alcoholic Dad. Loud drunkards can be a trigger for me. I need a relaxing, peaceful home for my mental health. I hope this isn't going to be an ongoing issue.

I started following Anonymous again on Twitter and their feed is so eye opening. They had a whole thread on how pernicious Facebook is and how it's been used as a weapon (with Facebook's approval) to target mentally fragile people with Qanon, WikiLeaks, etc. Whenever someone will comment on how crazy Qanon conspiracy nuts are, they always remind the op that these people were systematically targeted and fed lies. Our world is so incredibly fucked up.

"Catholic Karen" here lol. You might not have realized that we are on the WORK page and the discussion was about tattoos AT WORK, so your argument is invalid here. I'm in an industry that serves global customers. My job is so coveted that each hiring season, the major companies in the industry receive over 100K applications for only 2-3K positions. To be sensitive to other cultures/religions, some companies will not hire you AT ALL if you have tats; others allow you to cover them. If you lie and say you don't have any, and it's discovered that you do, it's immediate termination and is on your record, possibly impeding being hired at other companies. Ppl are all over the online forums crying about being fired/not hired bc they feel they're being judged. It's not being judgmental, it's being SENSITIVE.

Just wanted to say to both of you who think you may have a personality disorder, it never means you can't be loved, even if it's avoidant. I have avoidant and borderpolar, and I've been v. happily married for 10 years. You just need an understanding partner and a willingness to work on yourself. TBH, most people are not healthy, because most of our parents, well intentioned or not, had no clue what they were doing. I think if everybody in the world was assessed for mental illness, none of us would be totally healthy. You can do a lot to help yourself with books and support groups even if you can't afford therapy, but get therapy if you can, and research the best type for your illness first. If you need medication take medication and don't let people shame you for that, it's YOUR life. At the same time, medication is not the be all end all and don't expect magic, use it to help yourself. You are NOT fucked for life so please don't think you are, and you deserve love. We all do.
