Not sure why you are proud of your DD going to (community) college. You are the one that has done everything for her. Picked her classes, writing emails to professors, pay for classes, give her rides, physically go and buy all her materials (supplies, books) all because she is too busy at work. She works at Walmart about 15 hours a week. If that. Meanwhile you work 40hrs a week 40 miles away. You should be proud of yourself for going but not going to college. I don't get parents like this. She's 19 for cripe's sake, let her grow up. Nothing wrong w/ helping financially, or guiding them through enrollment process, or giving rides when absolutely necessary, but this mom is doing a disservice.

Oh, my baby Jesus. I'm this close to slapping my dh with my laptop. We're both writers. He has an English degree, I have a piddly associates degree. He'll ask me for my opinion on something to do with his writing, and I'll answer him, but he'll argue my points. Then he'll say, "Well, I have an English degree. I know what I'm doing." Motherfucker, I may not have a bachelor's degree, but I've published two fucking books! He's published ZERO. Go ahead, keep writing a book that's grammatically pristine but boring as hell. Your degree can't help you with creativity and entertainment value. Ugh. Sorry. I feel better now.

I sent an email yesterday afternoon to a client checking to see if she got my email with questions on her books. I sent her the questions and didn't hear back for a couple days. She responds at 10:30pm: no, I never got the email. 10:38pm: an email with answers to some of the questions. 10:39pm: Did you get my answers? 10:40pm: I thought you already had (this and that and the other)...... *blink* I'm kinda baffled. Was she drunk emailing? WTF?

Pretty sure there are predatory 'publishers' that will tell you your book is great, that you just have to pay to have the first 100 (or however many) printed up, then you can start making money from the sales. What you wind up with is a box of books that you have to then sell.

A friend of mine has written a few books and finally found a publisher. She gave me an advance copy of one of her books for me to read and review on Amazon and Goodreads to built momentum before it's actually released. Thing is, the book sucks. I mean absolutely sucks. The story is weak and just plain bad and the writing is just horrible. I don't know how she ever found a publisher. She will know if I don't review it, I don't want to lie, but I don't want to hurt her feelings either. Ugh.

DH has all this crap that he holds onto because he thinks it's worth something. I know it's mainly junk--old, torn-up books, electronics that don't work and are obsolete, etc.--and I have been slowly either donating the semi-usable stuff or tossing out the junk. I've made a slight dent in things, but there is still a shitload of stuff to finish going through. When he dies, he thinks I'll make a fortune off selling all this crap--the truth is closer to that I'll have to hire a dumpster service to haul it all away.

With all the stuff I've had to buy for school lately, I've bought so much stuff from Amazon this past month! DH is going to wonder why I bought so much stuff, but between books and computer stuff and the dog's special joint meds, I just had to place a lot of orders. I swear, I never usually buy this much stuff on Amazon!

Lazy ex co worker took all of her personal items with her- moisturizer (so much moisturizer), granola bars, ugg boots, and scarves. She left a bunch of crap that I have consolidated, boxed up, and labeled. I want it gone though. What do you think is the courtesy period for left behind stuff? I work at a school. The stuff she left is a couple of boxes of crappy Hooked on Phonics (fine for homeschooling, but come on), binders of stuff from when she was in college, left over prize box stuff, and some books. It's crap. How long should I keep it here? When do you think would be okay to sort through it and dump stuff? Thanks

Who cares what Melania said. Her delivery was excellent, and she's clearly intelligent and beautiful. She'd be a lovely first lady. It's not like they do anything important anyway other than show up for great PR photos reading books to inner city kids. Oh, and put a garden at the White House. Big deal.

I live alone. My weekend? Cleaned my house, four errands, one movie with my work friend, three books, one long phone conversation with a family member. Lots and lots of silence and alone time. I love my introverts weekend.
