I'm divorced and have no plans or desire to be married again. He doesn't believe in marriage. We both believe in monogamy though and have been with each other for 4 years now. He told me the other night that he sees the two of together "until the grave". So I guess you could say, things are getting pretty serious.

My soul has such a hard time with the desire to always forgive and treat people as I want to be treated and understand that everybody has something going on, but also not allowing toxic people in my life or allowing people to continue to treat me badly despite the number of times they apologize or try to make it right. And it's just that much harder when it's family.

To the OP that is spiritually disconnected: I think it might be helpful for you to go talk to a counselor or therapist of some sort. It might help just to have someone to listen while you sort through your thoughts. I definitely understand your desire to meet someone special who could help you though. I wish the same thing for myself. My situation sounds a little different, but I have a lot of questions about my beliefs and I've shared my thoughts, doubts, concerns, frustrations, with family and friends, but no one seems to be on the same page as me. If I talk with a pastor/priest then they are one-sided, and if I talk with an atheist they are on the other end of the spectrum. There is no one in between to discuss the thoughts that go 'round and 'round my head and drive me crazy.

The older I get, the more accepting I am of my introversion. I always suppressed my desire to be alone and the dread I felt when I had to be social because I thought they were bad feelings. Now that I'm almost 40, I've learned who I really am and that there's nothing wrong with me (not that I would give an F if people thought I was weird or wrong for feeling that way--one great part of getting older is not caring what people think!).

I am sick of songs and videos that basically showcase a woman seducing a man. So few popular songs or videos portray a woman as anything BUT a figure of love, heartbreak, sex or desire. Women are pouting, slouching, slinking around, shaking their asses, batting their eyes, mourning over broken hearts...sheesh. I'd love for some popular songs and videos to showcase women doing something OTHER than acting like cats in heat or sad angry/vindictive victims of love gone bad.

if someone wants to argue against suicide because of their beliefs in God, fine. But then what about 'thou shalt not kill?' Explain why it's OK to execuse prisoners and go to war then? They always have some justification to fit their human desires.

My coworkers are all in the 32-35 year old range. I am 41. It surprises me how young I think they are, and how little I'm feeling like I can connect with them sometimes. The desire to actually be friends with them just isn't there. Heck, I've been married and divorced and moved cross-country by now, and most of them just got out of graduate school and are single. It's crazy. I never thought I'd feel so much older than they are.

A good friend of ours started dating a new girl. They have been together a couple months and she's already moved into his house. She sends me a friend request and I accept. Ugh. Tons of photos of her and her friends and him - out at bars partying, having a grand ol' time. The problem? Almost all of her friends are catty (to me, anyway) barflies that I've met before, but completely dismissed because I have no desire to know people like that. And consequently, most of them don't like me. They are the kind of people that we may or may not acknowledge each other if we crossed paths in the grocery store, both of us knowing full well that we've met before. Do I care? Normally, not at all. But this just makes me uncomfortable.

I I have been a bridesmaid three times and a maid of honor twice. I find it insulting when people say, "it must be HARD to see your friends all get married when you aren't!" Or "don't worry, you are next!" Um, I have no desire to get married. If I do, I do. If not, who cares? Not every woman makes marriage this be all end all....give me a break.

I joined a few dating websites because of their ads for "free membership". The membership doesn't include being able to read messages from paid members. I get it, they need to make money but the prices to upgrade are ridiculous. I decided to join one of the sites because I received an email from one of the members I was interested in. After upgrading, I started reading through the 78 emails I received. I believe all of them were sent by the site itself. The messages were pretty much the same. I did "reply" to the email from the one member and have never heard anything back. I give up. I can't afford to upgrade on any of the other sites and, I know this sounds judgmental, but I didn't see anyone on any other sites I would be interested in. Some of these guys! 50 year old men, shirtless, ridiculous poses & screen names - "Pigboy", "I'll pleasure you", "Your desire". I guess I'll rely on chance encounters - I'll probably be alone the rest of my life. : (
