Absolutely agree with you that dogs should NOT be fed vegan, and I'm a vegan. When I had a dog, I fed her BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food). That is, I fed her raw meat and bones, because that is what dogs should be eating. That is what is natural for them. Kibble is a processed food, obviously, and it wreaked havoc with my dog's skin, stomach, and allergies. Raw worked perfectly. I wouldn't dream of feeding a dog a vegan diet. That's terrible.

So I know humans can get along fine on a vegan diet when it's done properly, but one of my vegan friends wants me to feed my dog a vegan diet. Sorry, but no. Dogs in the wild will go after meat, meat, meat. My dog doesn't love to eat many veggies as it is--I can get her to eat pumpkin if it's pureed, but a vegan diet? HAHAHAHA!! No.

One summer in my 20s, I helped an elderly relative move several states away after her dh died. I helped pack up the house. We flew to her new state with her two dogs and stayed with family members until she bought a house and got settled in. I remember going with her to buy some new furniture for the house. It wasn't until a couple years later that I asked what she did with all of the furniture from the old house. And that's when she told me that the moving company had "lost" it. Most of them were antiques that had been in her family for decades. We're planning a cross-country move in a couple years and I'm petrified of losing things.

Ooh, idiot people! There is this lady who has a little mean Chihuahua in my neighborhood. She lets the dog just roam around on her lawn and it always, always tries to go after my dog (I generally walk my dog on the other side of the street from their house). Today, it got hit by a car. I knew it was bound to happen someday. I feel horrible for the dog, but there have been about 750 near misses in the past from the dog dashing out into the street to bark at passing dogs on the other side. I really hope that if he pulls through and makes it, those owners stop letting him just run free like that. People like that shouldn't own dogs.

I've posted about our neighbors with three little dogs that they'd let roam the 'hood. These dogs would run out of their house and charge at you, and if you weren't looking, two of them would bite. We've all called the police, but nothing's done. They finally got an electric fence when I went ballistic on them - I was standing in my driveway with my dog when they came charging at us, trying to attack us. It's been relatively peaceful since then. Well, they went away for the weekend and left the dogs out. Non-stop barking from Fri nite to Sun nite. Cops were there twice but did nothing - just knocked on the door and left. Animal Control was called - nothing. Dh and I went over. Poor dogs were shaking and had torn open trash bags looking for food, so we left food & water. They came home before dark and you'd THINK they'd try to find out who fed their dogs to say thank you, but NOPE.

Looking at my rescue dog just makes me happy. I have 2 dogs but he just looks at me with complete love in his eyes, has to be near me constantly! He was going to be put down if I didn't take him (He was sick). He's improved, is the sweetest, most loving dog I have ever met. He's does whatever I ask even if he's nervous. I love my other dog also but this guy just stole our hearts (my other dog loves him also). I never liked German shepherds until I met him. I was completely wrong about this breed, he proves it to me daily. I've had a crappy week but my puppies just make it seem stupid to upset over :)

I think it was the Philando Castle vid, the cop may be "fearing for his life" but his behaviour is over the top and hysterical. It was like watching someone who needed a psychiatric evaluation, he totally escalated the situation himself. I have to say, I have never seen a police officer in my country behave that way. I'm sure it happens and I'm no fan of the police here, but that cop had absolutely no skills in diffusing situations. I have also seen several videos where US police officers shot dogs safely behind fences and in no way a threat...NO I'm not comparing humans of any race to animals but I'm talking about the insane OTT reaction from the officers not the dogs themselves. This "shoot first, ask questions later" way of thinking is crazy. From what I've seen, the training of US police officers needs some serious evaluation and restructuring. And YES your country has a big fucking problem with racism...all countries do but the US situation seems quite unique in some ways.

We're 2 adults (and 2 dogs + 2 cats) and I don't really keep track but I'd guess probably $400-$500 a month maybe. Dogs eat expensive food, cats are on wet food. We eat out a lot and enjoy alcohol (craft beer isn't cheap and neither is good whiskey). I probably spend $50/month on overpriced coffee. I really want to get into meal planning and prep, and minus pet food think I could get us down to under $200 (and back down to my normal weight) but I make excuses to avoid doing that.

My dh has 2 brother's. My inlaws have always appreciated that I keep a clean house and clean kids. My 2 sister in laws are pigs. The sister in laws always bitch because my inlaws never go to their house. Me and my mil wouldn't let my dd crawl on their floors when she was little. We'd hold her the whole time because their house was so gross. All these years later and the 1 brother and his wife have no kids at home, but they let their 2 little dogs poo and pee all over the house. Just yuck!

Random fact about myself: I squeeze the stuffing out of pizza rolls and put it in a pile on my plate. I eat the stuffing and the empty shells go to the dogs.
