I didn't cook or clean at all yesterday. I was like I do that shit all the time, you can do it for one day. Dh didn't cook, but he did pick up Chinese for dinner, then put away the leftovers and cleaned the kitchen. I think I would have been really upset if I had to do all my regular chores on my one special day.

I sent my DD18 a text "c'mere" : she was up in her room and I needed help with dinner. But it never went through, I was holding my phone wondering why it wasn't sending, and suddenly there she was in the kitchen. Weird.

Let's lighten the mood here. Remember when we were recently talking about people who pray or ask for prayers for everything? Well a friend just posted on FB asking everyone to PLEASE PRAY FOR US! Yes, all caps. The issue? They have a water leak in the kitchen and the floor has to be torn up.

I love FB swaps. I don't buy underwear/swim wear, health/beauty products, food and no fabric furniture (bedbugs)! Only some electronics, kitchen items, clothes, solid wood pieces.(I don't spend alot) My friend can see my comments due to fb. So she complains how I find good deals but she will not use swaps because someone might see her comments. The people she's worried about seeing her are buying/bidding on the same swaps I use. I don't understand her sometimes but I still love her!

My poor old doggie. Last night he couldn't get up in time and peed on the carpet and this morning he got stuck in the kitchen. He goes in there, stands on the kitchen rug, then gets scared to walk on the more slippery floor because his back legs slide out from underneath him. I put a scarf under him like a sling to help him walk out. His back legs are getting so weak and they shake. The other old doggie loves her dog stairs.

I can deal with summer, but I love Oct-Jan, when it gets dark early. My dh will cook supper while I take the dog for a long walk. I time it to when the sun is setting so I get a beautiful view plus the cool air is always invigorating. Otherwise I lurk around the kitchen and nibble on junk. Plus I earn a few more exercise calories for the evening!

My company just made a change for us employees. Each office - there are offices all across the country - got a new coffee machine. There are 8 different coffees and 6 organic teas, as well as various creamers, sugars, etc. We also have a Keurig. Our kitchens look like a coffee shop now. I've never taken anything other than a pen from any job I've ever had, but since I've been wanting to try new teas, I took three bags home. They're all flipping delicious, so I went online to order some. HOLY SHIT is this stuff expensive!!! A box of 90 teabags is $45. Put that into perspective - a box of 100 Lipton bags is maybe four bucks. I feel really guilty now!

People, please respect the rules of a home when you are visiting someone. If they don't allow eating outside of the kitchen or play-doh in the living room, don't continue trying to convince the homeowner your 2 year old doesn't make a mess and it I will be fine. I've seen this child eat and they make a huge mess while wiping their hands on anything near and I would rather not have that on my rugs and furniture all through out the house.

Tim the Tool Man Taylor was just replacing 4 fluorescent lights in the kitchen. He could only get 2 to work. He was cussing up a storm too. He won't let me call a fit it person either. :/ He CAN'T FIX ANYTHING! It irritates the crap out of me! Our house looks gross inside and out, but he won't let me hire anyone either!

I've been complaining about my mismatched, super-dull kitchen knives for years now. I kept hinting to DH that it wasn't safe to have the knives be so dull and crappy. Then my brother, who is a chef that has a $500 Damascus steel custom knife, saw my knives and said I would probably cut my finger off with one someday. DH went on a business trip and came home with a brand-spanking new set of Wusthoffs. And they're niiiiiiice. Now I will have to find recipes that involve a lot of chopping and slicing so I can try them out.
