I go to the doctor maybe twice a year, usually for annual and at least one other time for something not vagina related like I need a med check. I get weighed at my annual and it's always spot on with my scale at home which is a WW scale. I know how much I weigh. I weigh a lot. Like by the bmi I'm like morbidly obese. Do I look morbidly obese? Oh, I don't think. Chubby, but not like omg, you're huge! I've never had my doctor's bring up my weight and talk to me about losing weight, going to a dietician, etc. etc. I think they probably should, maybe I would actually lose some weight if I had a medical pro bring it up as an issue. I wonder if other obese people have the same happen to them. Like, it doesn't seem like a problem because your doctor never talks about it?

Boy, we sure have a lot of medical "experts" here arguing about taking a patient's weight. I think some of you need in-servicing on a patient's rights. A patient has every right to decline vitals (including weight), any tests or medical procedures, medications, dietary advice etc. Whether or not you think it's in the patients' best interest, you have no right to override a patient's decision with regards to the course of their care. I think this argument is interesting because it points to the arrogance that pervades the medical industry.

People who make silly demands when they come into the Dr's office I work at are usually made by people who are just trying to control the situation. It's kinda cute. I just smile and nod and let them do their thing. It's their health, not mine. But seriously, thinking that your doctor doesn't need to know your weight is just passive aggressive hug worthy. We don't weigh you too be nosey or to laugh at you. There is a method to our supposed madness.

Grow up and get over yourself. The staff at doctors' offices really have other things to worry about than judging your weight. Yes you have to get weighed. Get. Over. It.

It really is important that you get weighed at every doctor's appointment, especially for a medication check. Some meds can cause swelling, weight gain, weight loss, etc. Even if you've been on a med for years, these things can still happen. Your doctor, who went to school for many years, knows this and sees this everyday. We can't rely on you telling us your weight either. People lie, plus our scale is calibrated every 6 months, probably unlike yours. So go ahead and throw a tantrum and refuse to be weighed. You're only hurting yourself and making yourself look bratty and stupid. Whatever.

Doctors and nurses don't just weigh you for shits and giggles, you know. They usually need your weight if you're going to be on antibiotics because the dosage is weight-dependent. So while it seems irrational to be weighed when you have strep throat, they know what they're doing. If you don't want to see the number, step on backwards and tell them not to tell you your weight out loud.

Two years ago I weighed 130 pounds at 5 foot 4 and was kinda flabby. I started running and hitting the weights. Today I STILL weigh 130 pounds and I am solid and smoking!!!!! Muscle looks totally different from fat! Plus I can eat a lot more of what I like now.

some days I am just not hungry. So I don't eat for like the whole day. Sometimes I go two days. Then my appetite kicks in and I eat normal. My weight is normal. I don't gain or lose. I'm totally healthy.

I think any female experience, whether is is bearing children, choosing to forgo having children, having multiple children, choosing IVF, having an abortion...is going interesting to SOME WOMEN. As long as a topic interests people, the topic will stay alive. In terms of confession sites we see many repeated topics -- annoying husbands, weight loss/gain, pregnancy symptoms, annoying relatives, recipes, financial woes, job escapades, career anxieties, balancing work/life...etc. You may not be able to "relate" to certain topics but that does not make them "boring". I don't appreciate someone deciding for me that "we" should no longer discuss a topic because you find it "boring". Childfree life is very controversial in some families, cultures and parts of society. Therefore women who choose this route often encounter strong emotions and reactions. Discuss away. I am a married woman with two children and I don't find it boring at all. I think it's a very relevant topic, as a matter of fact.

My doctor put me on wellbutrin and I'm losing weight like mad. I didn't realize that was a side effect. I'm just not hungry. But other than that, so far, I feel pretty great. My energy level has skyrocketed and I found myself telling people, "I don't want to.." to whatever they wanted me to do. I never realized how much shit I was doing that I really didn't want to do. How many years have I been just giving in, not rocking the boat, and doing whatever anybody wanted me to do? Seriously, it's been a revelation. "Honey, do you want to run to the store and get me a six pack?" .. Why no, no I don't. LOL! The world didn't end, and he got up and went to the store himself without even complaining. Well, he pouted a little. He's so used to me just going along but those days are over. :)
