My looks were brought up a lot when I was a little girl. However, I got depressed and emotional ate my way to 100 pounds overweight and the same people who praised me for being pretty and smart were the same relatives who called me fat and lazy. I lost the weight after I got away from those toxic people and have learned to appreciate not my outer beauty but who I became while going through a hard time. Now those same relatives are back and talking about how "beautiful" I am now and how they are proud of my achievements.

My Mom was the type to believe food was love. She also had the metabolism to deal with it. I didn't. I had a few health problems that went unaddressed, because she didn't feel anything was wrong with her overweight daughter. I love her, but I'm glad to be free so I could learn to eat properly, and be on the medication I sorely needed. The pounds are coming off slowly but surely.

Re: the fat kids. I was overweight in middle school and the first 2 years of high school. However I lost 60 pounds in HS. If they're overweight now it does not mean they're going to be forever.

You say "Who cares about what a man wants?"...but I guarantee that everyone, at some point or another, did something because they were trying to do what they thought would attract a significant other, or to try to get someone interested in them. It could be losing weight, wearing a certain outfit or perfume, did make up the way the other likes, did your hair a certain way or color..etc.. Truth is...we all care.

Why is the weight not coming off?!? I have been eating 1400 calories per day plus about half of my exercise calories. Logging every bite of food, only drinking water, walking 4 miles a day. I have only lost 1 lb in a month. So frustrating to eat good and exercise every day just for that measly pound. I have over 35 lbs to lose. Even had my bloodwork checked and everything is fine. I guess at 40 y.o. my metabolism is finally catching up with me.

My main reason for being happy that summer is almost over is not having to come up with reasons to stay out of my swimming suit! I put on some weight this year and just feel blech.

I am about 20 lbs overweight, starting tracking calories and exercise on July 1. I am only down barely 2 lbs. I guess with only 20 to lose, about .5 lbs per week is average, but ugh it is frustrating. Gonna take forever at this rate! Oh, well, I guess that is the healthy way of doing it and keeping it off.

Op with the hairy face (lol). I do have PCOS, and can lose weight with a little more effort than others. I talked to my doc that I was concerned about the hair and he just hand waved me with "Well, that's why you're on the pill." So what, nothing will make this better? A stronger pill?? It sucks this is the only obgyn in my shitty town.

Since I started nearing 30 I noticed my facial hair getting worse. If I managed to lose weight will it slow down? I asked my obgyn and he just blew me off.

I confessed my weight loss mantra on Truu, but I'll do it here too: "tossed not hoisted." I lost 55 lbs and have kept it off for 3.5 years so far!
