I'm from a military family and, while we're all patriotic, we don't jump on the ridiculous "rah rah, stand for the flag" rhetoric. Even the ones who are currently active military. We believe America is all about freedom and a big part of freedom is accepting that everyone is different.

People who are in dire straights, who are struggling to make ends meet, tend to not give a fuck about social issues like racism and misogyny. They care about feeding their kids. Hillary never addressed the millions of poverty stricken Americans while she was campaigning. Trump did. He lied through his teeth, but he did. Please send good vibes to the family I helped 2 weeks ago in a grocery store parking lot. This family came to America from Afghanistan on a work Visa and probably seeking asylum but they had to get back to Texas because of the dh Visa and were trying to get enough money for gas and groceries for their kids. I took the husband into the store and bought him enough groceries to last him a few days and gave him whatever cash was leftover from buying him food. I've been thinking about them lately and hope they're ok and they made it back to Texas. The man was genuine and I don't think he was running a scam, he didn't want to spend a lot of money and was trying to find the cheapest food possible. This has been weighing on me lately and I hope the best for them.
