Sorry, this could get lengthy... I posted a few days ago about my bipolar brother. We have an agreement that if he feels like he is a danger to himself he will call me. He told me Friday he was considering this and I advised him to go to the hospital. He didn't want to do that and assured me he wouldn't do anything to himself. I live 2700 kms away. Today he texts me and says he going to hurt himself. I call him and tell him if he doesn't call an ambulance than I will. He no longer has a choice, he has asked for help and he will take it in what ever form I see fit. He doesn't want me to do that. I then call out parents and explain the situation. They agree with the hospital route and tell him they will meet him at his place. All of this transpires and he's on his way to the psych ward. My point? I am so angry right now that I could kill him myself. This latest "cry for help" is about a breakup with a GF that he keeps dumping. My mother that went to sit with him in the hospital amongst dirty, germy, sick people has stage 2 Ovarian cancer and is starting chemo shortly. If she gets sick from this exposure, he won't need to kill himself, I will take care if it for him.

My brother is bipolar and (in my opinion) has borderline personality disorder. He has not worked in 7 years, and eats at a food bank. He runs out of disability money every month so my parents buy him groceries. He tells me he sits at home alone every day and is thinking about ending it. I tell him the same thing every time. He needs to get his doctor to start working on a plan to get him off or at least cut down on all of these medications. They have been treating him all this time and it's not working. He cannot get any behaviour or talk therapy because his disability will only pay for meds. I also tell him he needs to do something with his life like get a job or volunteer. He won't. His life is shit because he will not do anything to help himself except keep taking a ever increasing pile of psych drugs.

DH is bipolar, insists nothing is wrong, stopped medication on his own and refuses to talk to a professional, I am not sure how much more I can take. Getting nasty with me for no reason, then being all lovey dovey less than an hour later, and then wondering why I am angry with him is getting to be too much. I will admit I feel sorry for him and that is part of the reason why I havent split with him, along with the usual financial concerns, family stigma (my family is very judgmental), etc.

I am getting beyond frustrated with drug companies and doctors. My DH has recently been diagnosed with bipolar and it seems like every drug he's being given has horrible side effects--neurotoxicity, loss of ability to think, sexual side effects, sleep disturbances, etc. He feels worse being on the drugs than when he wasn't taking anything. We're looking into natural remedies and lifestyle changes that so far, seem to be helping more than any of the drugs do. I swear, sometimes I think doctors tell people they're mentally ill just so they can sell more drugs to them.

I'd prefer to stay anonymous, but no not physically. He's just like my bipolar schizo mom all of a sudden. If he feels threatened he'll apply mental or emotional abuse, never physically. It wasn't always this way, and the funny thing is that I really don't know what triggered it. I don't know what I did. But Ifeel like he's given up, and I'm about ready to give up too.

I used to read a bariatric surgery support forum years ago, even though I never had and would never need bariatric surgery. I also read a support forum for people on dialysis and a support forum for people with bipolar. All of them were sites I found by accident. I don't hang around these sites consistently, but sometimes I will go back and read them or seek out forums for people with experiences or conditions completely different from my own. Some people find it interesting to read about what other people live through. Travel sites are cool and all but I am more curious about people than I am some posh hotel for American tourists in Thailand.

I hate when offenders call people 'sensitive' as an excuse to justify being an asshole. I had a friend who did this all the time. When you hurt my feelings, I'm just overly 'sensitive'. But when you fly off the handle and claim bipolar disorder, that's just perfectly fucking fine, because you know...you're just you.

I'm pretty beside myself with the sports organization my kids have been involved with. The board members banded together to prohibit a little girl from participating supposedly because she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. This little girl has done nothing wrong. She has never had any kind of incident with bad behavior or required any disciplinary action. She just happens to be the daughter of one of the coaches that the commissioner has a personal beef with. WTH is wrong with these people? We're talking about a first grader. What kind of monsters single out a little girl and say "Sorry, you're different. You can't participate even though you've never done anything wrong." Of course that's not a direct quote, but that's the gist of it. DH, who was a fellow coach, but not a board member called a local news station and told them the story. When I first heard it, I thought it was just dumb gossip that got misconstrued. Nope. They're really going through with it. It's sign up time, but we won't be signing up with them again. I don't know if the news station is going to follow up on the story. I don't know how my kids are going to feel about changing teams, but I can't support this organization.

I'm now bipolar according to my ex. Apparently his years of cheating are supposed to put me in a great mood whenever he brings it up. Apparently I'm in a normal mood, I get angry then I'm alright a while later, angry again! How about shutting up, staying away from me! Because after all I shouldn't be upset that I was lied to, my health was put on the line by him screwing the town skank. No why wouldn't I adore getting tested, having my trust shattered! For a female according to him that is disgusting! Yep I'm bipolar! Fun for him should have also been a great time for me also. F*ck you, why are you bothering me instead of her oh you need me to keep her loser!

I have three bipolar relatives, all on Dad's side. One is an immediate relative and two more distant....but they are all incessant talkers, self absorbed, narcissitic, demanding and entitled. I dont know if those are traits of bipolar but man, I can't fathom living with any of them
