I'm in the midwest so I can't really relate to this north and south bashing. Oh, the horror, I feel so left out!

"Clean air, clean water, cheap gas, cheap utilities, low taxes, lots of natural beauty, fine cities, and everywhere you go, people are friendly and helpful. You couldn't pay me to live Up Nawth." Hahahaha. What part of the South did you live in? Because it sure as heck isn't any part I lived in. I will give you one thing, it is cheap. But that's only because no one wants to live there. You know, supply and demand. Or maybe you don't know, considering the public schools in the south are consistently ranked the worst in the country.

I lived in the north for 9 years. Ignorance is pretty accurate. Sample conversation: "My mom told me never to go south. I might get lynched." Me: "Never known it to happen." "You think I want to live where everyone names their son Bubba?" Me: I don't know anyone named Bubba. And so on. Come on down and feel the joy! The food here's good too.

I lived in the south for 20 years. Ignorant is pretty damn accurate.

It is ignorant to label the south ignorant. We have 4 seasons here, all beautiful. We are smart enough to appreciate them and smart enough to know who in our midst didn't like us before they got here. We're nice to them anyway because we were brought up to have manners. Freeze your ass off if it makes you feel superior, hon. While you're trying to find your driveway, I'm going for a walk on the beautiful sunny beach in my shorts and halter top.

I lived most of my life in the North, and a few years here in the South. The difference has nothing to do with not being able to drive in it. In the North, DOT prepares the roads before a blizzard, and there is usually a bunch of snow to drive on so we don't hit the ice. In the south, the DOT comes out after it's already down...and that's if they come out at all. And there isn't much snow. We're driving on pure ice. If we had DOT prepare down here, we wouldn't have crazy pile ups and accidents.

Not everyone in the south is ignorant. Sounds like you are the ignorant one with your sweeping generalizations.

I've lived in the south and we moved back up north last year. I'll take blizzards over ignorance any day.

No snow here. Why do you people live where you have to deal with that year after year? We in the south wonder.
