I'm a nurse and i used to volunteer at my city's free health clinic. Y'all have no idea how many young girls and grown women have zero idea about how their own bodies work, let alone birth control. Yes, people behave irresponsibly. All humans do at some point in time. However, women are taught to be fearful of their bodies; to think they're dirty and bad. We're taught that a man's wants and needs are more important than our own. So, yeah, bc is important but we need a major shift in the way we raise our boys and girls. That's nothing wrong with running like a girl, hitting like a girl, being a fucking girl. If men were the ones to get pregnant, I guarantee you that abortion would be legal and bc would be sold otc.

Does anyone else have a really hard job? I'm a pediatric hospice nurse. Today, I've had to explain the process of organs shutting down to a two year old's parents. After that, I sat with a mom whose 17 year old is hours from death. When I left work, there was a church group lobbying for our facility to be closed. They're upset, because they would rather the children be left on ventilators. It makes my day really hard, especially when they shout things like baby killer.

I'm a nurse and don't wear my wedding set to work because it gets caught on my gloves. At work, I wear a small cheap band with fake diamonds that I got at Wal-Mart. I'm on my fourth one because the stones fall out after a while lol. I get compliments on it all the time haha.

Did something last night I have never done in my whole adult life. I bought all the ingredients for Bloody Mary's. I did some drinking as a teen, but quit everything when I found out I was pregnant at 18. Had my dd at 19. Dh and I would go out occasionally and I'd drink. When I had our ds 10 years later, I nursed him for 9 months. I've drank a wee bit in ds's 15 years of life, after I nursed of course. So I was actually scared when I bought all the stuff last night. Started getting paranoid. What if I turn into an alcoholic? I had 1 drink. And I enjoyed it! Probably won't have another one for awhile. I just had all these crazy weird thoughts running through my head! Jeez ! :/

A nurse at my doctor's office told me that her husband had horrific breath. They went to the ENT and found out he had tonsil stones. (They also found out that tonsil stones are a thing!) And the doctor popped them out, and now his breath is fine.

My BFF is graduating from nursing school this May. I want to get her a really nice gift. Is there any nurses/med professionals that can give me any ideas?

Aaah!!! All 7 seasons of Nurse Jackie are on Netflix. Since I don't have Showtime, I never got to watch it. I'm about halfway through the first season and I am so hooked.

To the mom who has to quit her job......find ways to bring in income while you're at home. One thing I did was clean houses. I brought my baby with in a carrier. No one was home so I nursed when I needed to, he slept or played as he wanted to. If you can find some people who don't mind you bringing your infant along, house cleaning can be a nice gig.

My mom loves to volunteer in the nursery at church on Sundays and at the mother's day out programs. At her first church and now the second (she moved) she's told me about how the other workers do as little as possible to play/interact with the kids, complain about mothers' instructions and sometimes flat out ignore them, and gossip about everyone as soon as they leave. I don't mind walking my baby out during services if she gets whiney...but I think I'll avoid the nursery.

I need to get this off my chest. Trying to do names and nursery for baby2. Dh won't contribute any ideas bc he says that I'll just do what I want anyway. For 6 years, we've always done what I want. Bc he either won't contribute, or bc when we do what he wants it turns out terribly and he says (literal quote) "we should always use your ideas. They're better than mine and everything goes the way it should." but I feel like I'm doing all of this alone! I want his help. I want him to give me ideas, and tell me if he likes certain things. And hormones overplaying everything make me feel like I've messed up our relationship or something. Grr. I'm just so conflicted. I know for a fact that his schemes are usually terrible. But I still want to feel like we're together in this and it's not just me steamrolling him with the entire thing. Smh for real.
