Work

For real? It's bad enough that when you come here to work... you don't know what the fuck you're doing and can't do anything other than make a letter-sized copy. BUT! Lo and behold, you're here on your day off! (Another common occurrence that I hate) Why are you here? Well, to use the scanner! (Something you have no fucking clue how to do! Yay!) So I have to explain to you how to use it, then when you fuck it up I have to come DO IT FOR YOU! And this is not work related. Not at all. But my boss wants me to be nice to you because you're old and he won't fire you because he figures you're going to eventually retire. But I'm not convinced. I think I'll be calling 911 when I find you dead on the toilet here at work. Fucking annoying. I have actual work to do.

I always feel so effing guilty for spending money on myself. Even though I work hard and I earn it, I feel like I don't deserve nice things. I just spent almost $1000 on a new elliptical machine to replace my old worn out one and I feel bad because I bought a nice new one instead of a crappy used one off Craigslist. I am going to start being nicer to myself--I don't think that I give myself a lot of credit and it's taking a toll on my mental health.

And so it starts. COVID is spiking bad in my state now and DH's cousin got it. She posted a rant on FB about how other people need to be more careful about spreading it, etc. Well, she was at their rec softball games playing and hanging out with everyone not wearing masks. And that's likely where she got it. Sorry hun, I'm sorry you got sick but no way would I be doing any rec sports where I'm around so many people breathing and sweating and coughing and eating right now. It's not anyone else's fault you got sick when you're the one taking all the risks.

I used to have a big problem with binge eating when I was younger. Now, I find that when I binge, I physically can't fit as much into my stomach as I used to. Honestly, it is both a relief and it also makes me a little sad because...I don't know, I can't totally pig out and stuff myself like I used to be able to do. I often wonder if that happens to other people too. I also get way bad side effects from a binge if I have one now--gas that just about kills me and heartburn for a day.

I got kudos from the team for leading a great event since a partner's child happened to be one of the attendees. I got really nice compliments, but I feel like I don't deserve it at all. The events are exhausting to the bone to lead because there's so much backend logistics then on the day of, I'm leading students. On top of training a new staff and sheer exhaustion, I found myself really impatient and being short with her when we're setting up for the event. I've have chronic depression, been really low on self care that I ended up snappy at her. I know I'm only human, but still can't help but feel like bad and want to apologize x100. I don't feel like I deserve any kudos from our team because if they only knew my behavior. Our Exec. Dir. is attending the next event and I absolutely have to be better.

OP, don't feel bad about keeping the kids home! I'm doing the same, as are thousand and thousands of parents around the country. You're not scarring them or ruining their lives. I don't know how old your kids are, but if theyre old enough to have phones and computers then they're still in touch with others. And if they're young, they probably won't remember much anyway. Nothing wrong with keeping them safe!

This is gonna sound bad, but here goes. I don't understand how I look like I do. My mother died young so it might be genetic i guess. But it blows my mind. I should be getting wrinkles, my body should be changing. SOMETHING should be changing at this age. I'm not some crazy health nut, I don't have things done to my face. I'm late 40s and I'm still 36/26/36. I have tiny lines on my face but only when I smile or frown or whatever. I have a little cellulite but not enough that you can see it, even in short shorts. I know how this sounds which is why I'm saying it anonymously, but I honestly marvel at myself sometimes. Like, how? Why? Oh, and last time I had bloodwork done the doc said barring getting hit by a bus, I might live forever. Mind boggling.

I am afraid between the pandemic and the election I might end up losing my marriage. My dh is my best friend, but he can't see past his white male privilege. He only wears a mask bc I ask him to, and he is one of the "I just know I've already had it so I must be immune". I find myself moving farther away from being able to support this country the way it is, and I don't really see anything changing. He doesn't see any of that bc he's never had to deal with it. And I won't pretend I've had it as bad as others. The pandemic has really brought all America's issues to light in an ugly way.

Don't get me started! My dad, despite having gone through polio and losing the use of his legs, keeps saying he is bored and would rather take his chances with this thing than be bored. So yes, his caretaker comes over twice a day, and neither of them wears a mask. His friends come over and drink with him. He keeps talking about going to Las Vegas when the weather gets bad. When the local bar opened for a few days, he was the first one there. In the meantime, over 5% of his town has tested positive of covid in the last six months (there is meat packing plant, so they are a ton of people in their 20's and 30's getting it). So far, 20% of people over the age 70 who tested positive have died from it in his county. I'm trying to just resign myself, because nothing I say has any effect.

I've had a majority good luck on AirBnB, but I had to be honest with this stay. She wrote me a good review which made me feel bad, but it was just a weird stay.
