IT IS NOT AGAINST THE LAWS OF THE U.S. OR BRITAIN TO BE RACISTS. It is against the law to discriminate against members of any ethnic, religious, etc. group. Racist views are not against the law. If there is a law on the books in the U.S. that we can't hold racist views, please cite it. You want to educate us to your incorrect grasp of the law, prove it. Right here. Waiting. Can't wait to see all people with racist views thrown into jail once we find the law.

Anyone remember the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books? I loved those. I bet if she were around today, she'd be considered a child abuser.

Women used vinegar and water douches (acid kills alkaline sperm) and the man used a condom. Women have used barriers to sperm, like sponges dipped in vinegar, for thousands of years. There is also the rhythm method where you refrain from sex during the woman's fertile time. It doesn't sound too reliable and it wasn't, but it worked for a lot of people. I'm in my 70s and many of my friends were using birth control in our teens. The pill was available and I had friends who took it at age 17 in 1959, expensive as it was. Birth control was well known, my H was taught about it in 10th grade biology in 1955 and there were a lot of pamphlets, articles and books available. It was well known that respectable people used birth control. It was not taboo, it was just not discussed with anyone other than your intimates. I was there and I know because I practiced b/c in high school with the boy I eventually married.

Awhile ago I posted about how dsd was pushing me out of the way every time I'd touch dh. Well, I joined a step parent support group and a lady started talking to me and told me about something called "mini wife syndrome" and after I Googled mini wife syndrome, I found out that dsd fits this description to a T and there are books and support groups about little girls behaving this way when their dad remarries, most of it is based on grooming from their mother of course but wow, so glad I listened to my instinct and not the nasty comments I got here. I'm so happy to have found a place where stepmoms like me can get much needed support and advice and vent in a safe place without being hated on simply for venting about our SK.

I'm a single woman, elderly but very active, fit, attractive and look much younger than my age. They don't know what to do with me at social gatherings. I'm not looking for a man which is a good thing because there aren't any who are both attractive and nice, but the women are so BORING. They can't talk about anything but recipes, gardening and grandkids. I like to talk about books, traveling they or I've done, and life experiences. My tries to engage them about those things are met with blank stares and then they launch into another grandchild story ('How cute is that'!) I don't bore them with my own grandchild stories,.

We moved to other side of the country about 3 years ago. We visited family back home a year and a half ago. We are going to visit family this Christmas and both mine and DH's family wanted to know what DS wanted. DS is 8 and told family he wants books. Our families are not happy with that answer and are trying convince me he needs remote control cars, sports gear, legos and all the typical 8 year old boy gifts. I have tried to explain to them he just doesn't like those things and is an avid reader. He is 8 and reads on a 6th grade reading level. He reads through books very quickly so he is always looking for more things to read. Right now he has over a 100 books and he dreams of having a big library. It is so irritating to think family gets irritated when a child doesn't' ask for big things and bunch of useless things and they can't accept he just likes to read. It is also irritating that they think they know what he should want when they have only seen him once in 3 years.

I don't think its silly to be thankful for a fridge as well.Growing up, we didn't have a lot of money. I got clothes once a year if I was lucky and this was when I was growing, I had holes in my shoes and had to wait two month to get shoes for Christmas. There wasn't a lot of food and often our electricity would go out. Now that I am an adult, I am thankful for the fact taht I can buy clothes, that I have a full fridge and that my electricity will never be cut because of the bills. I look at a great hardworking husband who never used drugs or hit my as my mom's boyfriends had, I have plenty of books to read and have traveled more than I ever dreamed I could. Looking back to the child I was, washing dishes and dreaming of getting the hell out of that house, I never would have thought I can get the life I have now.I am blessed and grateful and even a little scared because good times never lasted long as a child and I am having the best time. What if it goes away? I could only enjoy it now

Any tips or books I can read on how not to be a bitch? Yeah, I'm pregnant but that's no damn excuse for how I've been acting. My dh doesn't deserve that. It doesn't help that I hate myself so I lash out at others, but that's no excuse either. Can't afford, nor do I have time for, a therapist, I was hoping there was some secret training book. Lol.

101 cookbooks.com has an AMAZING wheat berry breakfast bowl. I highly recommend it. It's a very versatile recipe. But I saute pears and dried cranberries, add the cooked wheatberries, some toasted nuts, and yogurt of choice (greek variety, usually vanilla with honey). Delicious. So great.

RE relative who is going blind. Check your local library. I work at a library and we have talking books, a free service that sends audio books directly to the home of anyone who is blind. They don't even have to pay postage.
