I went to the ER last Tuesday & the receptionist was fantastic. I was in so much pain I could hardly speak through my tears. She was compassionate & called for a nurse ASAP. Only asked for my name & social before taking me to a room. Yesterday I made sure the ER knew I had a great experience starting with her.

So you know how people say everyone should work retail at Christmas to be more compassionate. I think people need to work as an ER secretary. My God, but people are some royal assholes. We get shit on and interruptions from patients, nurses, doctors and the patients family, and I'm supposed to smile at you each time...

I talked to ds/15 about me leaving for 5 days to visit my brother. I would love for ds to come but financially and him missing school is not an option. Dh isn't the best dad. He's not physically abusive, but drinks. Ds said he'd be fine and he wants me to get away and hang out with my siblings. I've never really been away from ds. I nursed him til he was 1. Dh and I have been on a couple of short trips. I don't know. I'm probably over thinking things and I can feel my anxiety kicking in. If you're a praying person, please pray for me and my ds.

I work in a nursing home. If you got some gifts you don't like why not bring them here? Wrap them up and choose a resident to visit. Many have no visitors, the only people who care are us aides and nurses. We buy dollar store stuff for some people who would get nothing otherwise. They would love nice soap and shawls, fancy candies and lotion. All that stuff you complain about would be welcomed here. Please think of us this season.

I work at a hospital and they make participation in getting a flu shot mandatory also. They don't make it well known but we can decline and its considered participation. They just make us watch a video. The hospital gets a kickback for 100% participation. Only 2 of the 26 doctors I work for get one and none of the nurses or medical assistants get one. They don't work. It isn't like getting a vaccination for MMR or polio. Until it is proven to work, I'm not injecting it into my body. Hand washing is more effective at fighting the flu.

I think it is kind of silly to push kids into college right out of high school. Unless they seriously have a career in mind, let them have time to work and think about what they want to do with the rest of their lives. I certainly didn't know what I wanted to be at 18. Unless they are really driven to achieve academically, why waste the time and money? My parents told me I had 3 options: Military, college, or work until I was able to support myself. If I lived at home and chose work over college, I had a curfew and paid $200/month for rent and food. If I chose college, they would support me until I had a job after graduation. I graduated at 22 and became a registered nurse. Fuck having a curfew lol.

It's unethical to treat your family in any hospital. So your SIL will not be allowed in the room as a nurse.

I wonder if you can request NOT to have certain nurses at your delivery? My SIL will be a labor and delivery nurse at the hospital I plan on using and I do not want her anywhere near me or my baby during or after delivery. She's the type that would request specifically to be there and I don't want her around us at all actually. She's batshit. Gotta remember to ask my ob.

For the love of God....so tired of my coworker abusing apostrophes in her emails, charting and memos. It's cakes....just cakes. Not cake's. It's nurses, patients, chairs. Not nurse's, patients's, chair's. Makes reading her stuff so distracting.
