My manipulative mil strikes again. She is flying to see family on Thanksgiving day. I asked her why she wasn't leaving the day before and if she realized her son was going to have to drive for an hour to pick her up from the airport (after driving with his gf for 6 hours). She said she thought about it and she just can't wait to spend time in the car with her son and hopefully he won't bring his new gf because she wants alone time. She did it on purpose. She's already trying to wriggle her way in between them. I told her bil will probably want his gf with him because he is over-the-moon for her and that is a good and normal thing. Her response was a very southern, "Well! We'll just see who he chooses!" Fuck me. This woman is nuts. At least she isn't coming to my house!

My brother in laws ex gf (mother of his child) has been posting about horror stories about airlines and how they screw up your luggage, steal from you, the prices etc; and she will always add "this is why I always fly Southwest" umm, when you went on vacation last month, that was your first time flying in 23 years!! Dude, Third world was considered offensive nearly two decades ago when I was in high school. Where've you been? If you must refer to other nations as being worse off than ours, and it's best to not use "blanket" statements, then developing nation, LIC or or "Global South" is better. None of those terms is perfect however, and given that most of the reason many of these countries are in a shitty state is because we colonised them and are still basically enslaving people to mine our diamonds and grow our coffee and bananas and chocolate, you could just avoid referring to such countries in such a derisive and dismissive manner at all. Especially when many actually are having such a boom that they are likely to be more wealthy than us in the future.

My mil & her guy just came back from Florida. They spend about 4 to 5 months over there a year. We go out to dinner after my son's scrimmage game and my mil proceeds to ream my son's bf about playing on the varsity team? "Why do you want to play varsity? You could get hurt. Not good." Then when we go to leave and give hugs mil's boyfriend says to ds's best friend, "I'll hug you too. I like black people even though I'm from the South." They are old and freaking rude!
