Now that the emotional vortex has come down. I need to start healing and can't avoid working on myself forever. Trying out this daily self-care routine (and putting it on here to hold myself accountable). I'll start my day with herbal tea, gratitude either written or verbally, write in my journal, go for a quick jog around neighborhood, then end with yoga/meditation. Seems like a lot, but I think I can do this.

Depression is so awful. BF and I suffer from it. He finally admitted that he has chronic depression and I have never seen such raw honesty from him. I finally saw him cry, something he's never done in 34 years, unless he's not telling the truth. I believe it though, poor guy always put up a wall. I'm just so heartbroken it came during our break up talk when I was seeking this type of emotional vulnerability.

Well, feelings are just that. They aren’t usually something you can control. Trying to get to the bottom of the feelings through counseling is a way to try to work on the issue. That is not being emotionally stunted. It is attempting to address the issue. Ignoring problems is being emotionally stunted. My bad though, I forgot what’s most important here is to tell someone who’s going through a hard time that they’re wrong. Maybe this couple should get divorced, but the aim of the bitchy response seemed more focused on telling the OP how wrong she is. Kinda funny, since she recognizes there is a problem (that none of us know anything about) and seems to want to fix it, but I guess she’s just going to counseling because they give out free coffee or something. Talking out problems IS trying to resolve them. It may not always work, but to attack someone who is trying to get though a hard time is just lame.

Emotional manipulation. My ex did stuff like that to me all the time.

Um, he's the one that is emotionally stunted? Instead of divorcing and moving on with your lives you're just going to stay with him and wish every day that something bad happens to him? That sounds even less mature imo.

DH told our marriage counselor that our marriage isn’t really happy, but “manageable.” How, then, am I wishing daily that he’ll die in an accident? Is he that emotionally stunted?

Sometimes people with PTSD have feelings about things and want to blame people or things for the mental state they are in. I had a good friend who also suffered from PTSD. He did and said some crazy things that if he weren't in the state he was in he would have never done or said. There is also a good chance he did feel that way deep down and not because of his PTSD. Doesn't mean he doesn't love you now or regrets the marriage in his current state. People change and feelings change multiple times and ways over the course of a relationship. Bringing it up depends on where he is at mentally and emotionally as well as where the relationship is at. Either way, I don't see what good could come of it.

When your kids were babies, did you ever have a moment where you thought, I can't do this? Like, a situation that almost broke you. My friend is a new mom, and really struggling. She has an appointment with her doctor, to see if her baby blues are truly post partum depression. I'm cf, so I'm not really able to offer much in terms of sharing kid stories. I'm helping her clean, bringing her food, watching the baby when I can, and listening to her when she wants to vent, but I don't have any personal experience with infants. She had a bad crying jag the other day, after a major poop explosion, and is beating herself up for being so emotional. She said she just wants to run away.

I realize it's very important to continue growing throughout our lives... intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, etc. Everyone here is at a different stage and chapter, but I'm curious to know... what would you say you're doing to grow at this time of your life? Or how would you describe ways to grow?

Bf of 4 yrs had a really bad day at work yesterday, texted that he was so tired that he honestly didn't know what to do anymore. I know he hates his job (been there for 1.5 yrs), but I haven't heard him sound this low. He came home listened to me vent about my sh*tty day and when I tried to ask he was he didn't want to talk about it. I gave him space, he went to bed early. This morning he was kinda griping about things and still not like himself. I tried to ask him again and still no. His job is impacting our relationship - he has so much to do that all he does is work in his downtime, complain about it, and I feel I can only support so much bc my job isn't perfect, either. On another note, I'm really enjoying talking to my male coworker - we Gchatted for 1hr during work and it brigthened up my day. I worry though that I'm having emotional affair, but justify its okay because he's moving, anyway. I know I need help working through this and start to see my therapist again.
