***DISCLAIMER: There are some step moms that I consider to be absolute saints. I know it's not an easy gig. Some are just as, if not more, caring and involved than bio moms, while others are cool and have legit gripes. This is not for you ladies.*** There's all this talk about what CS pays for, how bio moms deserve nothing. Yes, CS covers a child's needs, but it's also a convenience fee. Your H is paying for your undisturbed dinners, freedom to go out, your freedom to have sex in the kitchen in the middle of the day and the convenience of only dealing with the rigors of parenting during scheduled times. Your H gets the "fun visits" while bio mom is saddled with the responsibility the entire rest of the time. So, instead of CS, maybe your H's should just be on call 24/7 for any issues that arise. Suzy puked in her bed at 3AM. Your H should be prepared to rush over there and help clean up or comfort Suzy. No? He shouldn't be expected to do that? Then STFU.

I'm going to snap on this ass. We are going through a remodel that I was told of 2 days before the work started.(3 day job I wish) I haven't had a washer or dryer for over a month. Hauling 4 peoples clothes to and from my moms. We live on a farm his 3 dogs, 3 cats and 20 chickens, a rabbit are all mine to take care of now (he is so tired). Nothing in the kitchen works currently so I can't cook, the floors are filthy with all the people stumping through. Our water lines are randomly on/off and I'm supposed to know when they just shut it off for hours. He hasn't helped with anything. I guess yelling at me daily is how you solve problems! My solution will be free to good home ads for his animals soon! I hate people who get animals but don't want to care for them. I don't have time for all this extra shit but I should cuz he's so tired from laying on his ass!

i totally agree about traditional gender roles being outdated but for me it's more about getting some help every now and then. i wouldn't have my husband cook every meal every day. nor would i have him do the lawn by himself every week or be solely in charge of cleaning the house. i understand that he needs help and a break from these things and that it's both of our responsibility. i'm not the best cook in the world but i'm willing to help out and learn from him. this isn't reciprocated on his end. since we've moved into this new house i've installed all the blinds, regrouted the tile in the kitchen and bathrooms, replaced the baseboards in one of the rooms, installed a new shower head in the guest bathroom, and put the dining table together. all by myself. whenever i ask for help he claims it's too hard and gives up after a few min. he's a healthy able-bodied smart man. it's not about "enjoyment" it's about being an adult and getting shit done.

It's a little after noon and I've made breakfast, done the dishes, did a load of laundry, stripped sheets from two beds, washed and dried them and put them back on the beds, have spaghetti sauce simmering for supper and scrubbed floors in the kitchen and both bathrooms. Then UPS comes to the door and I realize I'm still in my pj's.

It's a gorgeous spring day outside. I want to go for a nice walk with DH and the dog...what does DH want to do? Sleep on the couch. All. Damn. Day. God, I hate how much of a lazy ass he is on the weekends. I know it's his time to relax, but that doesn't mean you have to sleep for 48 hours for crying out loud. Meanwhile, today I've mowed the lawn, done laundry, cleaned the kitchen, vacuumed, and made lunch. The only thing I asked him to do all weekend was put the normal tires back on my car and take the snow tires off. I have a feeling that ain't gonna happen.

I seriously have the best sister!!! We've been at her house on and off for a week using her computer. She's been helping my 15/ds with a project. I cooked her and her family dinner and cleaned their kitchen. I'm also going to give her a 100 dollars to do whatever she wants with. I appreciate her so much! I think he true calling is to be a teacher! She's always had a special heart for babies and kids. I'm going to tell her that later.

I ask if BF knew where something from the fridge was. (I couldn't find it inside) He freaked out. Because I gave him a look when asking. I wasn't even looking at him. I was looking around the kitchen. (Someone may have set it out) Since I can't ask a question "correctly" I told him fine I'm not doing jack shit for you. Wtf it's been weeks of stupid arguments. I'm really sick of being told how everything I say/do/and now use my eyes is wrong. (He keeps starting these fights in front of his family) I normally will not argue in front of others but I looked at him wrong fuck that!

Ugh..did new roomie hear us talking about the rat situation? Her bedroom light was off, but I just heard her. It totally slipped as roomie and I were talking in the kitchen about the current bug situation. I'm completely horrified if she heard (I was so loud) bc we have kept it under wraps for almost 6 mons now. YIKES.

So this isn't really in response to the PT OP with the FT DH, but that post got me thinking. How much time do you (and DH, if appropriate) spend cleaning every week? I think I spend about 5 hours cooking, and about 2 hours cleaning (laundry, vacuuming/dusting, bathroom). He spends about 5 hours cleaning (dishes, kitchen, scrubbing floors). I spend 1 hour on errands, and I think that is true for him too. We don't have yard work. That is a bout 14 hours for the two of us. Is that unusually low? Unusually high? I wouldn't say we are particularly clean people, but it is rare our house is so unclean I'd be embarrassed by a surprise guest..
