I got an FB friend who's not even a nurse yet and she's attention whoring! She's only passed some of the classes cause they are online and she had to cheat and pay someone to take them for her! I think it's bullshit. She will soon start clinicals. I admit I'm bitter because I got my degree the fair, correct way but I can't find work in my field so I took a job that's beneath me. When she gets her degree in a year, she'll get an incredibly high-paying job, working the hours she wants, only WHEN she wants, because of "who she knows". God, life is unfair. If it wasn't for her cheating ways, she'd never have made it. She'd have been kicked out of school last year. People talk of karma... well, I don't believe in it.

I'm so tired of the attention whoring from a couple of my nurse friends on fb. I've been a nurse forever. Yes, it is stressful and rewarding. However, EVERYONE in the hospital is working their asses off, not just the nurses. Hell, I feel like all I do is chart and its the tech's job to answer the call lights. Can we just recognize all the hard-working healthcare professionals for once? The doctors who are unbelievably overworked. The rad techs who have to pee but are in the middle of a test. The patient care techs who are hungry but can't go to lunch because they are busy bathing a patient. The lab staff who are hauling ass to get labs done stat. Dietary staff who are trying to feed patients who cuss them out over the food. K, sorry. Rant over.

My sil just had her 1st baby in July. She just went back to work this week. She is so sad about it. My mom is there helping her and my brother take care of the baby since she's retired. She waited a long time to have a baby. She went to school to be an RN & Nurse Practitioner. She told me when I met her she never thought she'd find the guy of her dreams until she met my brother. I feel so bad for her. I hope she'll be ok. They live in Tennessee. I live in California. Wish I could help more.... I'm going to win the powerball tonight! :)

I think in some instances "first world problems" does suit the argument. Case in point, I was at the beach last week and heard this woman nagging and bitching at her husband for close to an hour about how "all these lowlife people" were cluttering up her "view of the ocean". Meanwhile, I'd just finished 2 years of no vacation working as a hospice nurse. It was really really hard to relate to her "view of the ocean" concerns.

I'm pregnant with our first child together (my first) and we're having arguments over space. DH and his kids moved into my 3 bdrm home I own outright. DH and I have the master and the boys each have a room. DH wants us to get a bigger house so all the kids can have a room. Problem is HE can't afford it. I can so It will mean I have to fork out additional money for a bigger house and the new baby. I feel the boys can double up. The one bedroom is big enough for them to share and the smaller room can be a nursery. DH is against this. He says if I make them share bio mom who sees the boys once a month and pays 0 CS will flip & it will cause resentment towards me & the baby. He feels I'm showing favortism by enjoying my pregnancy and all the preparation for my 1st child. I feel I've been doing all the mom things for DH's kids, emotional & financial and I feel a right to do for my bio as well. Opinions please.

There is no just helping out when an elderly parent gets too old to take care of himself. You're in it completely because it's not over till they die. The only help you have is what you hire. $15 for a sitter in my area, and they don't change diapers or take them to the bathroom, don't give meds either. $150 for 24 hours is a bargain, but that is for a CNA who will diaper and toilet them and can give some meds. $150 x 7 days = $1050 a wk. And you'll need a relief person for when the regular CNA has to go out. It's cheaper than the $7500 per mo. nursing home, but your whole life and home is disrupted by having all the equipment - walkers, wheelchairs, Hoyer lift - and then there's the constant parade of strangers through your home - PT, social workers, home health nurse if you have that. And it can go on for years.

I worked with a nurse whose marriage almost broke up when the husband's demented mom moved in with them. The mom would raid the fridge at night, then leave the fridge OPEN so the food would spoil. Also the dogs would get into the fridge so my friend would wake up in the AM to find all her food ruined and all over the house ,not to mention the dogs would get sick from overeating so there would be vomit and diarrhea for her to clean up. The mom would also crank the heat up to 80 degrees so the heating bill was astronomical. The mom seemed OK at times, so the husband kept argueing that what she did was just "accidental", not due to dementia and since was still "pretty with it" it would be cruel to put her in a home.breaking point came when the mom let the dogs out of the house and one never made it home again. My friend was hysterical. They finally put his mom in a home.

We went from making about $30k/mo to zero in a matter of months. My ex-h once successful business was no longer and I just gave birth to twins via IVF. We sold everything of value - cars, jewelry, clothes, almost every piece of furniture we had to keep afloat and towards the end, simply to keep the lights on. I was miserable, but it wasn't because of the loss of money. As I told him, "it's not the money or the things, we can always rebuild, but it's you I can't take anymore". Without money and the stress, he was abusive. In hindsight he already had it in him, but definitely more so as we were dealing with our world crashing down. I think he convinced himself and his family I left because we didn't have money anymore. Little do any of them know, the last time he was abusive I called a woman's shelter and was upstairs in my twins nursery waiting to hear the gunshot downstairs of him either killing himself or coming upstairs to kill us all.

Two kids. The first birth was pretty bad- I had to be cut, and I did poop on the birthing table. The second went super smoothly- the nurse told me it was one of her top five easiest that she ever saw. But for both- I didn't want anyone in the room but DH. That was not negotiable.

While I was in labor and giving birth, I didn't care who I offended. They brought a group of no fewer than 10 medical students in to watch without consulting with me first. I told them to leave, and they did. I screamed and swore freely, and told the young nurse who told me "It can't be that bad" that she needed to keep her unhelpful comments to herself. At one point I was crying, and older nurse told me to shut up. I told her she was the one who needed to shut up because she had probably been doing this for a while and should know better. I pooped. I screamed and swore some more. I gave birth to my healthy son. That was what I went there to do. I did not go there to make new friends.
