Today I saw an ad for a new TV show called Grinder, about a lawyer. The show's tagine is "he can get anybody off." I'm not a prude and have been known to have the sense of humor of a 12 year old boy at times, but this just seems gross and unfunny. I know, first world problems. (or is it not PC to say that?)

I think your example is a lot of things, but "first world problems" is not one of them.

I think in some instances "first world problems" does suit the argument. Case in point, I was at the beach last week and heard this woman nagging and bitching at her husband for close to an hour about how "all these lowlife people" were cluttering up her "view of the ocean". Meanwhile, I'd just finished 2 years of no vacation working as a hospice nurse. It was really really hard to relate to her "view of the ocean" concerns.

I am sick of guilt over "first world problems." Is this some kind of Marxist crap? If you were born in the first world, give thanks every day and help others when you can. Your fortunate accident of birth is nothing to feel guilty about. Believe me, if you lived in a shithole in Africa or Afghanistan, you'd give anything to have "first world problems." We're all one world. Some are lucky. Some are not. Get over it.

*I've noticed that "First World Problems" have become a no-no on this site so look away if you're gonna post a snarky reply please and thanks* I was watching a movie on my laptop because DH is using our DVD player. I didn't notice my computer was going to restart for updates. Otherwise I would have delayed it. It did its thing...then when it restarted, it was stuck on the "Loading Windows" screen. So now I have to restore my computer. WTF. So aggravating when everything was fine 5 minutes ago!!!

I'm going overseas for 6 months to work. It's a routine part of my job that comes up every so often and I'm accustomed to it, but this time I'm a teeny bit bummed. I'll be overseas for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's, which is a bummer but that's what Skype is for. No, the thing I'm really sad about is that I won't be able to wear any of the cute winter clothes I got at last year's end of season sales. All the stars lined up right and I got a massive haul of winter clothes. Boots, sweaters, leather trousers, a fuzzy Mongolian lamb fur vest...it all stays in the closet until winter 2016 because I'm getting posted to someplace that's super hot. I know, first world problems, but I'm really bummed about this!

Of course we have first world problems. We live in the first world. It doesn't make anyone's problems any less.

First world problems! My old colorist moved away and referred me to another stylist at the same salon. He always did demiperm color because I have a hard time keeping regular appointment and that way the color just fades. New stylist was mixing up something totally different, and wanted to try something on my very color resistant gray. I figured if he recommend her, then sure! Two hours later... It looks like someone took a Sharpie to my hair. And it's permanent. My husband said holy crap when he saw me. I look like one of my friend's mom's from when I was growing up. Always died her hair coal black and it looked unreal!

I am glad for reminder calls because I have so many docs, etc it is easy to forget. Esp when they want you to make an appt 6 months in advance! Holy crap! But I work 10 hour days and am not allowed access to my phone. Breaks go by fast - I don't have time to call back to confirm I got the reminder, waiting on hold, AND eat my lunch AND use the restroom. I wish they could just leave the auto-reminder instead of making me call back and play the whole phone tag thing. Yeah first world problems here too. Between dentist, gyno, and other docs I have like 5 docs and several per year going on.

This summer I've been to more states than most people go in a year. I'm sick to death of traveling. It's not even for work…first world problems indeed.
