OMG would you PLEASE stop muttering to yourself?!?!?! How many times am I going to have to yell, "WHAT?" over the noise of the printer, the space heater, the other printer, and the copier, and other people's f&cking conversations.... because you're f&cking muttering something, only for you to say, "Oh, I wasn't talking to you." Shut. The fuck up. Because then when you ARE trying to talk to me, I'm not listening. Then you, all exasperated, get up out of your chair and walk over to my desk and say, "FirstName LastName is on line one for you." *tears hair* First off, TRANSFER..... is a handy button that works just like HOLD only it rings again, right at my desk! Wow, technology! And secondly if you'd STFU when you're talking to NO ONE... then maybe when you're talking to a real other person they'd listen to you. Fucker.

You only want us to take out our ear buds (plugs?) because you want us to hear about how you walked 15 miles to school, barefoot, in a blizzard. My online life is not a chimera. It's my life. It's how I interact with friends and family. This isn't the dark ages. The only people who whine about being online are the ones who are nostalgic for a past that an entire generation has never experienced. The world revolves around technology, and screens, and the internet. You want to unplug? Cool. I'll be over here, ready to help the older peeps who don't know how to turn on a computer without wiring their retirement fund to to Nigerian prince.

I am really loving my new position. I have my own office (with a window!) and I get to go to New Orleans for a food technology conference next year! Also, I found out I am eligible for a bonus in January--a $10K bonus. I want to pinch myself because I really feel like it's too good to be true. Also, we have a company wide no-swearing policy (it's not like, strictly enforced, but people who swear constantly get written up). I thought about the OP who hated her job because of the lady who swears. I didn't think it would make that much of a difference, but it really does. It's amazing how much nicer it feels to work with people with a good attitude.

Right?? What is it with kids and how rude they are with their technology these days? We were at my aunt's for Christmas Eve dinner and my nieces and nephew were all parked on the couch, glued to their phone/tablets. I suggested that they take a break and enjoy "family time" and that the games could be paused for later. They got all snotty with me and got mad at my aunt for taking the tablets/phones away while we ate. My sister lets them watch as much TV/play on the computers/phones as much as they want and it shows.

God, why can't technology just friggin' WORK??? I'm trying to install software on my computer and of course there are tons of problems with it. So I have had to try to re-install it a zillion times and I swear it was not this hard when I had Windows 3.1 on my computer.

Personally since technology has provided formula and bottles, I prefer not to be a human cow. It's gross. Cracked nipples, other breast problems, horrible nursing bras, worrying about what you eat will give the baby gas, the loose and frequent poop, ugh. When you have a new baby is when you need less stress, not more. Why make it hard on yourself for benefits that aren't really all that great?

It disgusts and enrages me that a pair of absolute childish twats trading pathetic little-boy insults with each other are risking the lives of so many citizens with their talk of nukes. It's like watching a pair of petty 13 year old girls in a Twitter war, except they both have their trigger finger on the red button after a skinful of vodka. Can we just fucking stick Kim and Trump on some island somewhere with no technology and let them hit each other with sticks? Absolute fucking idiots, the pair of them. It's just a shame they are dangerous idiot.

You *are* reading too much into it. 10-20 minutes shows a lack of interest? I can go days without even looking at my phone. Checking my phone every 10 minutes would make me feel obsessed and addicted to this technology.

Technology is actually pretty wonderful. A lot of jobs that machines and computers have taken over were dangerous. Look at the industrial revolution. Healthcare (if you can afford it) is far more advanced and safer than it used to be because of scientific and technological advances. Technologically advanced civilizations are historically more peaceful, and I for one, love that I can shop from home, without having to drive my car. Of course there will be issues, but don't blame technology. Blame humans. We're a bunch of dicks. If a kid does nothing but sit and stare at a screen all day, instead of playing outside, whose fault is it? The phone? The TV?

I personally DO like how fast technology is evolving. Yes, there are drawbacks and breakdowns and issues along the way. But did you know robotics are helping surgeons perform delicate surgeries with far less risk and trauma to the patient? That I can share medical records for a patient in the USA instantly with someone in Hong Kong? That people performing home dialysis who ran out of solution due to shortages in their state can get on social media and find someone nearby to help them out? That they are creating an artificial kidney so someday people won't need to sit on dialysis machines three times a week for 3-4 hours a session? That I can see my lovely niece's face every day, even though she's in California even though and I live on the East Coast? That I can find a vintage recipe from 100 years ago so replicate a soup my great-grandmother used to make? Be grateful for the scientific advancements of today, for surely you benefit from them everyday.
