I was looking at some test results at work and I thought it might be interesting for y'all to know this: The calories on food packages are not accurate. They can be up to 20% off from what the label claims and the FDA doesn't do the testing to determine calories. If a company is sending their product to XYZ lab for calorie testing and XYZ lab gives a wrong result, the FDA doesn't care unless that test gives numbers that are more than 20% off of what they are "supposed" to be. And the test they do to determine calories isn't even all that accurate because in your body, fiber can "reduce" how many calories you get from the food. It really makes you see why it's so much easier to lose weight on a diet of mostly unprocessed foods.

It's not about the weight, it's the actual bingeing itself. It's the entire loss of control. It's how my entire life revolves around food. I obsess over getting my next fix all day long. I plan my day around being able to binge. I spend absurd amounts of money on food. I sit in my car or closet or shower crying all.the.time. because I just can't stop. It's hell.

Well, it makes total sense that it's biological. Your stomach has stretch receptors that tell your brain when it's full but some people don't have the signal strength that others do. Other people just have a large stomach capacity and need a lot before the stretch kicks in. There are ways to lose weight while making your bingeing sort of not be such a problem--look into Volumetrics. It's basically what you do except that if you want to lose the last 25 lbs, you'd probably swap some of the higher fat things you eat for things that are slightly less calorie-dense. Most of the drugs they give you to stop bingeing only work for a little while before they lose their effect.

I also want to add that I am only about 25 pounds overweight, so not huge. But that's only because I eat Keto about 90% of the time. And the only non-Keto things I really eat are fruit, which is only day a week or so. Otherwise, I would be obese, which I have been before. So I don't eat sugar, grains, dairy, soy, etc. I know that sugar addiction is a real thing, and can be a trigger, but I don't eat sugar, aside from the occasional fruit. I don't even eat Keto "treats." Basically nothing that's processed. But even eliminating all sugar doesn't curb the binges. I will eat 4 steaks or an entire chicken or 8 avocados.

I saw a picture of myself the other day and I actually looked pretty good! My arms were slimmer, and my jawline was sharper! I am still at ten pounds of weight loss. I have ten to go. I can do it!

Back around 2009, a woman I worked with started wearing what she *thought* were leggings to work. She's wore them with long shirts that were past her butt, but still a few inches above her knees. Unfortunately, they weren't leggings; they were tights and they were not opaque. They were see through. When she got in trouble for it, she cried discrimination because she was overweight. The reality was that she didn't know how to dress herself and was flashing her damn panties at everyone and their diabetic grandma. Another woman wore booty shorts and got in trouble and also claimed discrimination for being overweight. No one dressed like that except her because we understood that no one wants to see the bottom biscuits of their damn co-workers. Needless to say, our dress code is strict now and explicitly outlines what is and is not appropriate.

My old job let thinner and younger women wear leggings, but if you were overweight or older you could not wear them

i think i've hit my "rock bottom" weight wise. so little of my clothing fits me now that it's no exaggeration when i say that i have nothing to wear. even my "fat clothes" (leggings and oversized tops) are too snug now. Too scared to weigh myself but if i had to guess, i'd say that i've probably gained at least 80lbs over the past few years. i hate myself for getting this way but i need to make some drastic changes now or else things will only get worse.

My slow and steady weight loss has been verrrrrry slow, and I'm okay with that. Through summer birthdays, anniversaries, and travel, I haven't seriously screwed up, but I did enjoy myself. I think it's going to take me three months to lose my first ten pounds by sticking to 1200 calories a day, avoiding too many carbs, and eating more vegetables. I will probably get there by next week. So realistically, I'm going to reach my goal by Thanksgiving if I keep it up. I'm tracking everything through the Noom app. I look at pictures of myself, and I'm still not where I want to be, but I will get there.
