If I were in a situation of abuse, I would absolutely leave the marriage and get a divorce. I am a Christian and I don't think God wants us to be with people on Earth who abuse us. I do take marriage seriously and I wouldn't leave someone who, say, always left the toilet seat up, but if he ever abused me? I'd be out of there. The reason God created marriage was for us to have companionship and love here on Earth--I would very much doubt that He'd ever want us to be miserable here just because some religious zealots don't think you should ever get divorced.

I have a cousin that constantly posts about our country going to crap and posts making fun of Caityln Jenner and calling her a freak. There are also posts about Christian's needing to rise up and take a stand against the non-believers and the ones destroying our country with other religions. He posts Bible verses daily. All of this from the guy that molested me and my sister for years. Fucking dirty hypocrite.

I live in South Carolina. All anyone talks about here is their sadness about the 9 people murdered in the church. All they have on TV is nonstop coverage of taking the flag down in honor of them. Black and white are working together to keep our state at peace. White Christians worship with black ones. We all mourn this senseless act. Please do not dishonor the love that South Carolinians feel for each other at this difficult time. Do not say we don't defend those 9 people. Their relatives forgave the killer. Some of us never will, but we all equally abhor the act of their murderer. The flag is an entirely separate issue for most of us.

You know, I think Jesus was a huge advocate of separating religion from government. Think about it--the Romans were taxing all the Jews just because they could, so the Christians at the time asked Jesus if they could just skip out on paying taxes because they followed Jesus. Jesus told them they had to pay up and let the government do whatever they wanted. I think he was trying to make the point that even if what you think the government's doing isn't right, you should go along with it anyway because you aren't the rest of the country being governed. Lots of Christians tend to forget this side of Jesus.

I don't have a problem with people that say they don't agree with gay marriage. That is your right to not agree. What I can't stand is the people going around saying gays are an abomination because the bible says a man should not lay with another man. First, not everyone is Christian and follows the bible but even if they did. It also says, no sex outside of marriage and no divorce or remarriage and yet I don't see them going around shouting that these people are all going to hell for their choices. You know why that is? Almost everyone including Christians has sex outside of marriage and many get divorces and re-marry more than once even though the bible says not to do so. If you are going to point out what the bible states as a sin, you need to go ahead and point them all out not just the one about homosexuals. Turn that finger around and start listing your sins as well.

I'm also a Christian who supports gay marriage because it is a civil right. Legal marriage is about taxes, insurance, and first-of-kin. How I feel about it's religious definition or homosexuality or how I see either in the Bible is an aside. I became a Christian knowing that the world would not agree with me on every point and don't blame it for being what it is or waste time being upset about it. I just throw seeds and pray that some grow.

I seriously don't see how God has any legal ramifications on marriage. Marriage is a civil issue, not a religious one. It is a legally binding contract. If it were simply a religious issue, then you wouldn't need to get a license from the state in order to be legally married. You could just walk into your church and do it. But you do need a license. It's no different than a fishing license. Denying gay people a marriage license is no different than denying them a driver's license, and that's just wrong. Your church is not going to be forced to marry gay couples. There are plenty of churches that will not marry couples of different faiths (i.e. a Christian to a non-Christian), some refuse to marry people who have been divorced. And no one has forced them to start. But I also don't see these same churches fighting to make inter-faith marriages illegal. How is this different? As a Christian and 100% support gay marriage. Those who are speaking out against it just embarrass the rest of us.

What's the point of your letter to Obama, Charlie Daniels? I mean, okay, you don't like him, but what's the point of the letter? Just to let him know you have gun-clinging American Christian fans and family that don't like him either? You still have your guns in your hand Charlie Daniels, you had health insurance before ACA, your business is fine Charlie, YOU are fine. Quit trying to be some right-wing hero when you haven't saved anything or anyone.

I know I'm late to the Caitlyn Jenner opinion party, but here goes. I've been reading lots of "how devastating for his kids and family and friends", but I feel as though if Bruce, as a young child, would have been able to transition then, then he most likely wouldn't have had to hide herself behind Bruce and creative this fake life of marrying and having children. (even though I know she sincerely loves her children, even the Kardashian kids). I also see the Christian pro lifers preaching "give life", I didn't realize there were stipulations to that, you know- only give birth to heterosexual, non transgender, healthy babies otherwise they are freaks of nature, God don't make mistakes, they are going to Hell and all those other non Christian things. This is why I feel, parents should really listen to our children and pay attention to them. They know how they are feeling and what they are going through, & mean it when you say you love your children unconditionally. Truly mean it.
