I don't learn. I don't learn that when I comment to her she just shoots down my comments. She does that with everyone. She asks for advice (this time she wanted wine bottles) and we all had pretty good ideas I thought, ask a restaurant/bar, a school mom or a neighbor and she shot it all down and expects us, her friends, that live on the other side of the nation, to send her our empties! Really??! All because the school moms are prissy or the bar is gross and neighbors are Christians. I think I learned this time. I'm thinking it's all for attention.

Very random question. To settle a friendly bet: Is there a website where servers etc... rate patrons just like Yelp in reverse (basically), and does Open Table have a way to restaurants to review diners? I say yes this must exist, my friend says no.

When my great aunt was in a nursing home and close to death she told me during a visit that the only thing she wanted was a takeout meal from a certain chain restaurant she loved. I made sure I brought her one at least once a month during the last few months of her life. None of her other family bothered to do it.

Yeah, I waitressed all through college. From fine dining to family restaurants, all the cooks/chefs treated us like shit. One asshole usedto keep his hand on my order while he read a bible verse. I would have to say amen to get him to let go of my fried fucking chicken. I got my revenge though. It was sweet and had to do with hot oil.

I have annual holiday plans with my two best friends every year. We've changed our location or itinerary some years, but we always get together. One of the friends, who is also one of my family members, texted today that she has other plans and will need to be late. We've had this day on the calendar since Sept. The third friend is clearly upset about this, as she lives a few hours from us and is coming here for this event only. What would you do? I don't want to guilt trip my friend/family member. I want her to want to come on her own accord. Nothing has changed between friends and we see each other fairly frequently. Reservations at a fancy restaurant are set. No way I could move them to another day to suit all 3 of us.

SD24 and SS23 are vastly different. SD is kind, compassionate, driven, ambitious and helpful. Always got outstanding grades & a scholarship to a great college. SS is lazy, antisocial, ignorant, not compassionate at all and barely graduated hs. Walked away from a good job w/dh at age 18 and has been job hopping/couch surfing ever since. One time he was staying with us and I got a bout of vertigo and was about to fall over. Dh was scrubbing paint off his hands and yelled for SS to help me. SS actually said, "YOU help her!" He refused to even try to catch me even though he was standing right next to me. Taking him to a restaurant is embarrassing, he acts worse than any toddler I know. He even stole my debit card number to play WoW! Same parents and only one year apart. I hate to say this, but the only people who really like him are his friends. We're ALL fed up with him. He makes it impossible to love him sometimes :(

Now that everyone is talking about nasty restaurant managers, I know of a restaurant that closed because the owner was so horrible to the employees he could not keep any help. It was unusual for anyone to stay longer than a week. Most of the time he was working by himself the last few months. So of course the place was filthy and he was always running out of things.

Yes retail managers are douchebags to the employees, but restaurant managers are 100 times worse. I quit waitressing forever after being threatened with a punch to the face because I would not stay longer after working a 10 hour shift. A few months later I was actually assaulted by another manager. Bye bye waitressing!!!

I have been working as a waitress for the same well known chain restaurant for 5 years. We have a new manager, and she has decided that I do not have right personality to work here, and that she might have to take me off the schedule.I don't understand, I have never had a disagreement with her or anything.I have always helped out when needed, covering shifts at the last minute, etc.I have never had any customer complain about me. She has reduced my hours to 10 a week-the shifts no one else wants. I can't wait to graduate college in May!! I live at home, have money saved up and if she fires me I will be ok.I haven't told my parents yet.

I love Black Friday. It's a fun tradition with my sister and I. Our town is less crowded on black Friday than a normal Saturday so that's nice - we casually shop in the morning until our favorite restaurant opens for lunch and a drink, then head home and take a nap. And I love being extra nice to all the retail people and tipping everybody very well. It's just fun. I can't wait until our daughters can join us for this tradition.
