My family is originally from South America and I've been referred to as "Mexican" more times than I can count. I'm not "Mexican". I don't really take offense to it but I find it odd that that's the default assumption.

Scary as it is, I feel like the government is trying to get us so riled up about the white supremacists rallying in Charlottesville in order to distract us from the NK situation. I feel like we're either going to have another civil war or a world war with China and North Korea sometime soon. I'm terrified for the future of our country right now. And our "president" is the biggest laughingstock in the whole world (rightfully so). It just makes me so ashamed to be an American.

Thanks to Dems Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, the US is firmly in the bomb sights of N. Korea, a nuclear power. Its leader wants to kill us. He said so. NK's nuclear armed missiles can reach our homeland in 38 minutes. Our military leaders stated this. So you really expect our president, sworn to protect us, to sit back while American citizens are nuked? Not this president. Be grateful, not critical.

So apparently, according to a study, only about 50% of Americans would be able to come up with $400 in an emergency. This makes me so sad. I can't imagine having the stress of worrying about something like that. We keep $1000 in savings at all times just for emergencies, but I can really see how that could get eaten up instantly by a big medical bill or a car wreck. I suppose the advice they give is to just work on building savings, but I know it's really hard to do that, especially if you have a lot of expenses. And who doesn't?? Especially with health insurance covering less and less.

I don't know about you but I use to to describe both genders, just as I use "dick" to describe both genders. And I've met more than a few feminists who throw the term around willy nilly. I don't get American obsession with that word. It's practically conversational in some areas. For the love of god don't ever visit the UK, you'll never stop clutching your pearls. Even if the usage is hateful, don't even TRY and claim a woman calling another woman that is anywhere near as bad as a straight person using a gay or trans slur or a white person using the N word. Because it's just fucking not. If a man calls you it, it might just qualify as hate speech. A woman using the pearl-clutching word to call another woman an asshole does not qualify as hate speech.

Just like Caitlyn Jenner, Trump supporters will call "no fair" when his policies fuck them over. And if you're an average American they will. He doesn't care about you. He's in it for the money and yeah, most politicians are but this guy? Whole new level. This isn't TV, this is our country and our democracy.

I'm just so pissed at both parties, and the party loyalty being shown on both sides is mind boggling. They're a bunch of rich little babies who can't play well together in the sandbox and the American people are suffering profusely because of it. Sure, some parts of the ACA are great, but at what cost? Millions of people are hurting, health-wise and financially, because the Dems and Repubs can't put their petty differences aside and work together. And the dumbasses who keep voting for these people are too busy cheering for their side to win to actually research these politicians. Republicans aren't going to save our country. Democrats aren't going to save our country. I just want to hit the reboot button on our entire political system.
