We had my Dad and my aunt and uncle over for burgers yesterday to celebrate the 4th (it would have been my mom’s birthday, too). We practiced social distancing, though it was hard not to hug them. We had such a wonderful day and we were still sitting on the deck when the fireworks started. It was like something out of a Hallmark a channel movie, and I needed it SO badly.

I am going to my niece's b-day party tomorrow. My sister is inviting a ton of people and she's having it outside so we can sit far apart. It's going to be 95F tomorrow and no one wants to sit out in the hot sun and have a party. I feel so bad for my niece though because she is depressed about her birthday not being "fun" for people. Poor kid. I hope she likes the gift I got her--a "real" manicure at a salon where we're going to get fancy nail art.

I just saw a really nice blue motorcycle trike parked in the store parking lot with a couple of Confederate flags mounted on it and the phrase "WLM--F*&k BLM". Never in my life have I ever wanted to slash someone's tires so badly.

Am I right or am I wrong? DH and I have been married 31 years. His exW divorced him after 11 years of marriage (she left him for DH#2 of 4 but that’s a whole other story). They had two kids, who are now 40 and 43. They were divorced for 35 years before she died 3 years ago. The divorce was nasty, and her family bad-mouthed my now DH. Since she died her relatives have been reaching out to him. Several Facebook friend requests, one nephew stopped us at a store and wanted to shoot the bull, and this morning another nephew stopped because he saw DH in the yard. I see no point in having relationships with people who talked so badly of him. He says ‘they never did anything to me. They just believed her BS.’ And they still call him Uncle Joe, even though they haven’t seen him in all those years. I don’t want his ex’s family in my house, and he thinks I’m being silly. What say you? And no, I’m not jealous. I just think it’s odd.

Have you ever been upset on someone else's behalf. RN I have really bad anxiety-mostly about dying and bad health (working on it) and I call my mom to say hi and wanted to talk but she looked upset so I didn't tell her my problems. She told me about how she has lost weight and was really proud. I am proud of her because she worked hard. So, she went out with some relatives who were NOT supportive and bitchy. Like, mean girl bitchy. I forgot my anxiety for a moment and just got pissed, I wanted to call my relative and chew her out. I didn't because I didn't want to make things worse. My anxiety came back later (have to get my meds tomorrow) but for that hour-those feelings I shoved aside and wanted to fight someone.

My dd just turned 18 in june and my ds19 in april.Their dad was just diagnosed with liver Cirrhosis. He blews the kids off. He drives by our home 2-3 times daily we live a mile apart. He never stops to talk to the kids. So he text our DD saying when he dies he's only leaving his youngest kids his house and 401k. Our ds is in basic training and he said ds will fail, was calling all of us names. She snapped. She told him he's a horrible parent, she doesn't feel bad he's sick. She told him you weren't here by choice, your karma came back to you. He's playing the I brained washed the kids card. I never kept him away, I never said a bad word in front of them, all holidays were with his family. His parents picked them up whenever they wanted. He's being a asshole because our ds called me. She said the insults are enough. She told me she's not going to his funeral. I'll make her. I just wish he would have been a better dad. He's missing out on 2 great kids. I don't get it.

When my DH injured himself, I had to do triple the work for us to survive, and still come home and take care of him and the kids. Backbreaking, physical work, 16/18 hours pretty much every day. And I resented him so badly. I was so angry and resentful, especially when he would 'constructively' criticize or feel sorry for himself. And I wonder if I just don't love him enough, or if something is wrong with me. I've been in the house since COVID started with the kids, and I'm doing everything to make his life simpler. But I will never ever lose that guilt. I don't think I can. And if he hides his resentment from me, he's doing a good job of it.

Honestly, I think BOTH Trump and Biden are unfit. But the patriarchy just can't seem to stomach the idea of nominating anyone other than an old white man, so we're stuck choosing between two senile sexual predators. As much as I hate that Biden will be my choice, I have to remember that I'm likely voting for Ruth Bader Ginsberg's replacement. And I sure as shit don't want Trump to nominate any more supreme court justices or federal judges.

I'm going to say the same thing as I did to someone else. This is about tattoos AT WORK. In my previous job, I covered them because I worked with people of many cultures, and didn't want to offend anyone. At my current job (which I did for nearly 15 years before children), I HAVE to cover them because again, I service global customers, so it's a requirement of the job. Just like when I go to other countries, I familiarize myself with their culture and customs, so as not to do or say something offensive. Just because I'm not from their culture doesn't mean I can't respect it. Apparently this is a very, very bad thing. You learn something new every day.

Ya'll. Karen is the one who asks for the manager because her nail tech (or whatever) has tattoos. Catholic Karen (that preemptively covers her tats) is the person that agrees with BLM, but doesn't support destruction of property during protests. Also keeps mentioning that not all cops are bad. Neither are good, but Catholic Karen is a step in the right direction. IMO.
