I can't remember the last time I finished a book because I tend to start many, but finish none. Feeling proud and encouraged that I completed one today. I aspire to keep reading daily and to finish more books this summer. Do you have any book recommendations? Thanks :) #littlethings #readwildbycherylstrayed #Summer2015

I just bought 6 really interesting looking books for $11.91 out the door. I love the clearance section at half price books!

I got a Spanish vox in a box set at half price books for $3. It's good enough for me, though I'd look into classes at a community college, especially if your employer will reimburse you for it.

My sister used to get mad when I requested that she actually pay me to watch her kids. I wasn't asking for anything outrageous, just $20. For three kids for a work day. She said that she'd pay less than that if she put them in DES-sponsored day care. I said okay, do that. For jollies, I looked at what your "co-pay" for that kind of care was, and it was around $5/hr per kid. Her kids are real brats too, spouting the "you're not my mom" bullshit and she never sent them with food when I did watch them, so I had to fund their food, and they never ate more than 10% of what they "badly wanted." So I haven't watched them in years. I watch my other sister's kids though. She always sends them with food (breakfast/lunch/snacks), things to do (books, toys, either a tablet or a portable dvd player), buys me coffee AND pays me around $20-30. I don't think she's ever needed me to watch them for a whole work day either, they're usually picked up within a few hours of getting to my house.

Our clients have the hardest time finding decent employees that know how to run QuickBooks. If they're any good, they're already working full time. Seriously- it's tough. We have clients with employees who have no idea what they're doing, but that's the best they could find. And those are the files that I wind up having to completely re-do at year end.

No second chances is a good motto. Every horrible situation in my life is because I gave someone the benefit of a doubt when they mistreated me the first time. There are plenty of nice people in the world, and they're the only ones I want to associate with. All others, buh-bye. I've got other friends, family, books, TV, my phone and the internet, and my time can be spent pleasurably with them instead of assholes. It's a pleasant way to live.

My child goes to a private school. Each year the school organizes a book sale for parents to sell their child's used textbooks to the parents of incoming students at a discount, usually 1/3 off the new price. I confess that I get my books at a serious discount by shopping around, but I quote the retail price when calculating the used price. I profit off the used textbooks. Is this evil?

Picked up 5 books, 3 bookmarks, a journal with both lined and blank pages, a Spanish language course with guides, pocket dictionary, CDs and subscription to online content AND a cute reusable bag for the low sum of $9.94. Thanks, half price books, for giving 20% discounts on your already low prices!

Now, for a truly stupid one. I have extra space on top of my bookshelves. I have some picture frames there now, but I think some little statues would look good too. The only problem is I hate nick nacks and clutter and I think the added statues would fall into both categories. I would just build shelves all the way to the ceiling, but my ceiling is vaulted and it'd have to be angled at the top. #firstworldproblems

The magnitude of the FUBAR in this QuickBooks file is .... I've never seen anything like it. And I've seen some effed up shit. If this were a paper ledger, it's like someone's toddler just took a crayon and scribbled all over the shit. Then they hand it to me and say, "Here ya go! So.. you can have this done by next week, right?" *blink* Uh, NO you flaming idiot! Geez, man.. some people make me feel pretty damn smart. Then I remember that I have to clean up after their parade of stupid and I get sad. And FYI- just because you didn't enter it in the register doesn't mean it didn't happen. I can still SEE it on the bank statement! Seriously I don't know how some of these people survived to adulthood. I mean, I get that not everybody knows the difference between a debit and a credit. But the difference between a check and a deposit should be pretty fucking evident! I mean come on!
