I disagree with you heartily, OP. I am grown woman, and I don't wear makeup, style my hair, or shave - unless I want too. I never dress inappropriate to an occasion, but that is as far as I am willing to cave to society's expectations. To infer that makes anyone less of a grown woman is insulting.

Thank you. I just keep remembering when they broke up briefly- and during that two week period she was in a bad car accident. She's fine now- but my God- to see my son cry SO hard because she was in that accident... my heart broke so hard for him. I knew then, that his love for her was the real and life-long kind. She's his soul mate and the mother of the most amazing little girl.. I love her like she was my own child. <3 I'm gonna cry like a baby in front of all our Thanksgiving guests. They truly love each other and I couldn't hope for anything more for my son.

Back with another confession about my DS & DFDIL getting married on Thanksgiving at my house. She bought her dress. Without me. :( *mildly sad about this, but oh well* It's a beautiful dress, and TBH it's really just what I thought she might pick- all lace. But it's not white or even ivory or cream. It's a GORGEOUS green color. I confess, though, that I wish she's picked a white dress. I also confess that when I saw it, my brain went straight to "I would buy you a green dress. But not a real green dress, that's cruel." *sigh* My heart is just bursting already I can't believe she's finally going to be my daughter (in law), like officially. I love that girl.

I know the Hallmark moves are stale and cheesy. I know the ambitious woman who is planning her wedding in a small town will choose her childhood sweetheart,Brent who owns a bakery, wears a bunch of sweaters and has a dog over Drake, the shitty businessman fiance. However,my ass will sit there and watch jt. With politics, family issues and what else is thrown at me it's nice to put my brain on cruise and watch "Love at the Peppermint Inn" (made up title but I may not be far off)

Being a realistic Democrat in the Midwest, I'm disheartened by how downtrodden everyone is after the midterms. I never believed, not for one second, that the blue wave was going to happen. I like the enthusiasm, but it just isn't realistic. What is realistic is what actually happened, which honestly exceeded my expectations. Some really really awesome things took place yesterday. Muslim women won elections. A gay man won an election. We flipped the fucking house!!! These are fantastic things that should be celebrated. Times are changing, just slowly. Take a day to lick your wounds, but remember that this isn't over yet.

I'm a guilty Hallmark xmas movie watcher. I do know how super cheesy they are, but I find them relaxing. I only watch them in my bed, under my electric blanket, alone, before falling asleep. Sometimes I will smoke a little weed and I just like the lightheartedness before I drift off. And I like the way they portray xmas, all snowy with everywhere decorated. But yeah, they are waaaay chintzy.

Happy to report that no shitty Tootsie rolls were handed out this year. Everyone, even the older teens, were ALL in costume. We haven't had such a good turnout in years. Warms my little black heart.

My dh has such communication and avoidance issues that we can go weeks where he knows I'm upset but won't even ask what's wrong. And won't talk to me if I try to bring it up, so I don't even try anymore . One time I poured my heart out to him and his response was to make a generic comment about his job. Didn't even acknowledge a word I said. He sucks. I don't get it. I don't think it's anything from his childhood, his parents have been happily married 50 years.

Yesterday at work I was so stressed out and anxious again, as usual. I was using a box cutter and a pair of scissors for the project I was working on. For one split second I thought about thrusting the scissors into my chest to pierce my heart. Then I saw the open box cutter and began fantasizing about slitting my wrists right before thrusting the scissors. Fuck, how am I ever going to make it 5 more years until retirement?

I'm aware of the article you're talking about. It's pretty good, if it's the one I'm thinking of. Honestly, it felt you were taking a cheap shot at the cf women here. You wrote your post a day after someone poured their heart out about being rejected by their family for not having kids, and according to you, this stuff with your sister didn't happen recently. You might not have intended it to be a dig at the cf op, but that's the way it looked. It's happened before, where someone posts about struggling with their family because they're cf, and then someone else immediately just has to post about their terrible female family member, who just happens to be cf. Anyway, that's probably not what you intended and I hope you guys can work things out.
