Ignorance of the mental health field runs in my family. As a grade schooler I said at dinner one evening that a friend of mine was seeing a psychiatrist. My dad went into a ten minute rant about ‘quack shrinks’ out for money. I saw a therapist years ago and nobody in my family is aware. I think I need to find one because I haven’t got dressed in two days and all I want to do is sleep. DH thinks telling your problems to a stranger, then paying them to listen, is ‘crazy.’

Mental illness runs in my family. My sister was recently re-admitted to psych unit and has since been released. It has triggered a lot of emotions for me and my healing which has been up and down. I've never been to psych unit, though. I see a therapist online and will see another one in-person this week. For the past few days at work if anyone asks if I'm doing okay, I burst into tears. A coworker asked if I've been stressed lately because she said I'm not as lively as I usually am. She's not wrong. I called in sick yesterday and today I felt like everyone looked at my like I was crazy (which I know isn't true!) or I felt really agitated by little things they did. Less than an hour getting into work, I was getting ready to leave for an event when I ran into my boss in parking garage and asked how I was doing and gave me a hug. I cried again. Instead of the event, I went straight home. Ugh, I have a phone meeting in a few hours and have to be on for it.

I wish my DH could quit fighting with his boss. The guy is a monumental ass hole, but still. DH should be taking the high road. His boss is such an ass hole. And, he's an elected official. Fantastic. DH wants to run against him next election cycle.

Oh, FFS. It's not video games. Japan is the largest consumer of video games in the world, and you know how many gun deaths they have a year? Well, in 2017, it was 3. Yes, 3. Oh, it's also not a Christian country, so that no prayer in schools thing as a cause is bullshit too. And they have mentally ill people, just left every other country. After a rash of mass shootings, Australia passed strict gun control laws and did buy-backs of guns. And shootings were basically eliminated. Suicides decreased significantly too. The gun-toting, republican, 'Merica assholes need to get their head out of their ass.

So, RubberCity, you are saying the only reason my cousin isn't married is because she's attractive and successful, so it's hard to get a man. How about, she doesn't want or need a man? Wow, you are as judgmental as the people I posted about asking why she isn't married.

I didn't say they were here legally, I said non-criminal meaning they didn't have criminal backgrounds. I've heard the myth many times that Obama (who deported more illegal immigrants than any other president) only deported those with a criminal history, which is bullshit. Look, I liked Obama, too, but he was far from perfect. I don't have the cult-like mentality towards him. He absolutely put kids in cages on a large scale and was cool with killing kids in unmanned drone strikes. A little research will tell you all of the above is true. It's sad that you see it as me defending Trump, when all I'm doing is telling the truth about a previous president.

There was actually a good article on this recently, but I can't remember where. It talked about the mental burden women and mothers face. Having to ask your DH to do dishes, laundry, etc. still keeps the mental burden of making sure these things get done on the woman, even if a man does them. What women really want is to be relieved of the WHOLE burden. It also creates resentment because grown men need to be treated as children.

Maybe if people would accept when someone tells them they don't want to hang out, they wouldn't have to claim "introvert status." You're literally calling someone an asshole for not wanting to go out. What does that say about you, op? No is a complete sentence but many people don't accept it, so then you have them making stuff up because they're being guilted. The lesson here is to accept someone's boundary when they set it. Also, my "introvert status" has zero to do with friendliness or social anxiety and it sucks that you, and many extroverts, think they're the same thing. Accusing someone of having a mental illness because they don't want to hang out is egomaniacal bullshit.

Well the bottom line is this: Big corporations don't want the status quo to change. Republicans are pro-status quo when it comes to tax regulations, industry regulation, environmental policy, etc. So of course the election is going to be rigged such that the Democrats have a candidate that is also as pro-status quo as can be. And this time it's Joe Biden. No one in Washington actually wants to change things that would make the country worth living in again. Because then the lobbyists would be pissed and stop forking in big bucks. It's all such a fucking corrupt system and if lobbying were out of the picture, we might have half a shot at getting rid of Trump.

I've always had sleeping issues, since childhood. It just runs in my family, no underlying medical or mental conditions (that I know of anyway). Tonight at Target the weighted blankets were on sale, so I bit the bullet and got one. I've been wanting one for awhile, but was always too cheap to buy one. After only sleeping from 1-4 last night, I said f it! I need to try something new. So tonight I will see if all the hype is worth it.
