I had a debate on FB with a Trump supporter who's stance was that everyone should be armed. Everyone. And if I'm not armed, then I guess I'll just lay there and die. SO I asked him what he thought about universal background checks. His response? We already have background checks, what's the difference if they're 'universal'? SO I linked an article about 'universal' background checks and how they close private sale and gun show loopholes. You know what he said then? "OH! Oh yeah, I think closing those loopholes is a good idea.We should definitely do that." So, I'm a 'libtard snowflake' for feeling this way, but somehow this gun-toting republican agrees with me? We are NOT divided by our ideas. We're divided by our government's rhetoric.

I find the ALM people particularly amusing. So, it's ALM when it's about the police officers, Republicans and entitled people BUT it's not ALM when it has to do with brown people, black people, LGBT rights, the rights of people who don't want to be shot at a Walmart/church/concert/food festival/school/home. It's not ALM when they are also applauding Trump allowing for children to be held in cages (b-b-but those policies were made under Obama-true HOWEVER the children were only seperated from their family when the child was in danger from a relative). The good guy with the gun is only a rare example compared to the mass shootings. In fact, a study in 2017 shows that reveal carry has only increased gun violence. The "good guy" with the gun is likely to attack a civilian than the criminal. Spout ALM when you are arguing for better gun control because ALL LIVES have the right not to have their lives end at the hands of a fucking lunatic with a gun.

I live in the bible belt. All of the parents here that homeschool their kids do so for religious reasons (READ: they don't want their kids to learn how to think independently, or learn about other cultures, religions, etc). In my opinion, it's akin to child abuse. Your freaky religious beliefs don't trump your child's right to an education.

It's because sometimes allies get it wrong. They think they're speaking up for marginalized groups of people, but they're coming at it from a place of privilege and it comes off as patronizing. It also doesn't help that "white" organizations are making bank off the backs of marginalized people. Just look at how corporations are profiting from pride month. Jesus, then there's Taylor Swift. When white allyship is frequently insincere and only done to make a profit, people are going to be suspicious. Doesn't mean you stop calling out bigotry. When people call you out on your allyship, ask them how you can do better. It's like a man who only accepts feminism from HIS perspective. If he would listen, maybe he would understand. Also, white women over 35 got Trump elected. Of course people are pissed at our demographic, lol.

Tacobelle, I bring it up because I'm sick of people pretending like this is a new problem. I get it. I hate Trump, too. But I want a solution, and to find a solution, you have to look at the history. Unless, of course, people weren't looking for a solution; they just wanted to spew more unhelpful crap, which I'm completely exhausted by. Again, it's sad that just by bringing up the history, I'm looked at as defending Trump/bashing Obama. I guess that's the world we live in now, though. Screw critical thinking and problem solving. I didn't say they were here legally, I said non-criminal meaning they didn't have criminal backgrounds. I've heard the myth many times that Obama (who deported more illegal immigrants than any other president) only deported those with a criminal history, which is bullshit. Look, I liked Obama, too, but he was far from perfect. I don't have the cult-like mentality towards him. He absolutely put kids in cages on a large scale and was cool with killing kids in unmanned drone strikes. A little research will tell you all of the above is true. It's sad that you see it as me defending Trump, when all I'm doing is telling the truth about a previous president.

Democrats don't keep losing based on being too centrist. The electoral system favors rural over urban. It comes down to having a candidate who has a message/platform people can believe and trust in. Trump's platform? Take on politicians and pander to people's base instincts-and his base is still lapping it up no matter how much he lies 100%

I wasn't a fan of Biden before, but he can go jump in a lake after saying he'd bring back Obama's penalty for not having insurance and that he'd enact healthcare for illegal immigrants. I had to pay that fucking penalty two years in a row. I was working at a job that didn't offer insurance and the ACA was over $500 a month. I couldn't afford insurance and had to take out fucking loans to pay the penalty. But sure, let's give free healthcare to people who are in the country illegally. I hate Trump, but he was right to remove the penalty. People don't NOT have health insurance because they're being flippant and irresponsible. They can't fucking afford it!

A lot of those scum were children. I was in college during those years, studying sociology. We did an in depth study about unmanned drone strikes and, sorry, but you're wrong. Many of the people who were killed were never verified as the enemy. I'll never forget the interview we watched with a soldier who was ordered to strike, and seconds after he followed through with the order, 3 kids ran around the side of the building. They were killed. He eventually killed himself. As for the cages, they've existed for years. The migrants have been traveling here in caravans since around the Bush admin. It's a protest for how the USA has destabilized their countries. Children often travel alone, or are brought by gang members/drug runners to help with entry. The kids were held in these same facilities and the numbers have always been high. Not saying any of this to excuse trump, who obviously is a racist, but none of this is new. It's just more televised. This has needed fixed for a long time.
