I get that break ups are rough, been there many times and have gone through bad heartbreak. But implying that she's going to give up and her dating life is now over, at the ripe young age of 36, just sounds like teen angst.

I think I might be one of those friends who isn't being a good friend. In the past 3 months, I've had several people reach out to me and I never returned their message. I feel a little bad about it, but I don't have any extra room. I'm already emotionally taking care of DH, my dad, and my two best friends (and they are taking care of me too, but it is tiring for all of us). On top of that, I've lost two family members and one friend in the last 6 months, and have 4 others who have been in the hospital (two of whom might not come back out). So if someone other than my BFFs call and leave a message about how they miss human contact, I just can't rally enough to reach back to them. I'm sorry that they are lonely or bored, but I'm emotionally full. I think it is great idea to find others who also feel out of contact and need support to begin a new group of people who support each other.

I have a new fitness tracker on my phone. It just pinged me and said "you hit your recommended Heart Association goal for the week!" I was like, cool, I had a pretty active week last week. So I click on it, to see which days I was most active. It turns out it is a Sunday - Saturday week. My goal was hit in a single day, on yesterday's leisurely bike ride. I admit, that makes me feel like a bad ass. But it also makes me wonder who is setting these goals, if two hours of slow exercise will meet them!

Is it bad that all these confessions make me really glad that my brother lived near my dad in his twilight years and I barely had to do anything? That is, until after he passed. Holy hell, the HOUSE! 50 years worth of absolute shit that had to be dealt with and five siblings.. two of which had serious drug problems and wanted to insist that all his shit needed to be gone through because there were hidden 'treasures' that would be worth money. Delusional. Nightmarish. But at least it wasn't me that got the 3am phone calls from my dad because he was constipated or dropped a jar of pickles and made a broken glass mess. I miss my dad, but at the end, he wasn't himself anymore. I miss how him how he was before he got so feeble and confused and sick.

A possible new client asked me to watch her dogs. On my site, I say I can take any breed as long as the dog itself is not hostile, and since I have a dog and watch other dogs, any dog I watch must get along with other dogs. I always ask in case people don't read it. She got snarky and said she'll let me watch Dog1, but she guesses she'll have to have someone else to watch Dog2 since it will be "too much of a challenge" for me to watch him. Dog2 doesn't get along with dogs, just Dog1. It's not about him being a challenge, it's about the safety of the people and dogs in my home. If he attacks another dog I'm watching, that's money out of my pocket to pay the vet bills, an innocent dog in pain, a lost client, and a bad review/tainted reputation.

I hope Bolsonaro gets it. I think he's worse than Trump. He may not have Trump's power but he's basically close to committing genocide IMO. Also, we have a madman in control of the world's most precious resource, and the thing we all rely on for oxygen. Slightly terrifying. I feel bad wishing death on people, but ... some of them have to go if the rest of us are to survive.

I was on it for asthma and I gained something like 30 lbs or so because I was eating pretty much nonstop. I also got really bad acne. It's not the most fun medication to be on, unfortunately.

I went hiking with a girlfriend the first time since Covid. It was so fun being out in nature again. Too bad I didn't say hi to the group of cute guys that said hi to us. Would have been nice just to new faces, but noI just kept looking down. I was awkward before, but even more so seeing so many people.

I got my fingers crossed you get good news on the stress test! As for you DH, it is good that he is trying. But you don't have to forgive him, you get to decide if what he did was him showing his true colors, or a bad judgement call that won't happen again. And you get to take your time on that decision. Best of luck to you, OP.

As someone who dealt with an aging parent who lived in a pigsty and neglected himself, it was an awful ordeal and I feel for you. I got the same kind of advice - "make him come live with you!" etc. You can't force an adult to do anything. I know it was well-meaning advice, but unless someone is deemed mentally incompetent, they have the right to make decisions for themselves, even bad ones.
