My mother wasn't a clean freak, but our house wasn't dirty. Dishes were done and kitchen cleaned every night after dinner. Saturdays were spent cleaning the bathroom, mopping bathroom/kitchen floors, changing bed sheets, and dusting furniture and vacuuming carpeting. Laundry was done as needed and put away immediately. She taught me how to clean properly from the time I was a little kid, which was greatly appreciated. Now at age 46, my house is no show place and right now is a disaster by my standards, but a good hour of serious effort and the house would look great. I'm glad she taught me how.

I decided a while ago not to nag DH about anything. I ask him once to do something and if he doesn't do it, it doesn't get done. Well....it's not getting done! I told him this morning that two weeks ago I asked him to move some paperwork from the kitchen counter to his files. This morning I asked if he wanted me to throw it away, and he started whining that I never give him time to get something done! TWO FREAKING WEEKS!

I have no mental health issues and am generally pretty happy. However when I get sick, I feel....panicked my house isn't clean enough. Like yesterday I cleaned my kitchen. I'm a clean person and keep a normally clean house. I got done with the dishes, wiped down the counters and then proceeded to scrub the fronts of my cabinets with a tooth brush. I have a sore throat and sinus infection. I wonder if antibiotics and cold/flu meds can cause this? I literally can't stop thinking about cleaning.

Our house growing up was disgusting. My mom was kind of out of it and so she wasn't concerned with cleaning, my dad was moved out by then and good luck trying to get one of her mooching friends to help out when they crashed there. I was in charge of cleaning the kitchen and so I tried the best I could but there could be 10 people living in the house at once so it was hard to keep it up on my own. I remember the weekends I would stay with my dad and seeing a dish from Friday still in the sink by Sunday night. My brothers and I never invited anyone over because we were ashamed of how the house smelled and looked. My mom kept a huge pile of laundry that smelled like stale cigarettes and pee. I think that is why I have to have the house clean as an adult. I just can't have something sit for too long or I kind of freak out.

I also remember the house being dirty while I was growing up. One time when I was about 13, I spent about an hour cleaning up the kitchen without being told to. My mother got angry. My father didn't know what to do or say, he just sat there quietly.

Can today just be over now? I sliced my thumb on my mandolin, I spilled quinoa all over the kitchen floor, and my cat barfed on the couch throw after I just washed it.

What I've done so far today: Spent an hour Wii boxing, a half hour 'Walking Off The Pounds,' sat with my husband's sister for five hours (she broke her shoulder and needs meals prepared and help to and from the bathroom), pulled weeds in my flower gardens, laundry, fixed dinner and cleaned up, and mopped the kitchen floor. What DH has done: Spent four hours at his aunt's house going through old photos and his uncle's belongings. Now he's taking a nap. What I'll do tomorrow: Pretty much the same thing. Ditto for the DH. Big sigh.......

Yay let's hear it for sugars being down for the first time in over 5 years!!!!! The only downside is I woke up last night to it being 25. That is scary as heck. I thought I was going to have to crawl to the kitchen for chocolate milk. I have lost over 25 pounds since the beginning of July. I think I am going to beat this depression, diabetes crap and be healthy!!!!!!

He stroked my stretch marks in wonder. Said he wasn't sure how to say what he was feeling. That they meant that I wasn't perfect. That I was human. It was really sweet. This morning, he stood in the kitchen cooking his breakfast and farting. I heard it from his bedroom as I got dressed. So help me I thought it was adorable. I might be in serious trouble here. This might not be "just for fun" anymore...
