I live in Miami and am a middle-aged Caucasian woman. I've lived here for 35 years and now I don't think I could stand living in a place that is homogenous, all-white. I think living around people of different cultures - Caribbean (Haiti, Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Trini/Tobago), Central America (Honduras, Guatamala, El Salvador, Mexico), South America (Venezuelan, Colombian, Argentine) is AWESOME!!!! I am so glad I didn't grow up in a place where everyone is the same. The music, the food, the languages, dance and culture...I don't think I would have been happy in a boring place where everyone eats, drinks, talks and expresses themselves the same way. I've met so many wonderful people from all over the world. And yes, sometimes people have talked sh*t about me in Spanish, but so what? People have also sh&t talked me in English. (I am a so-so Spanish speaker but understand the language very well). Por favor, dame un cafectio, me socio!

As my husband and I were walking to our car an elderly lady yelled out to ask if my husband would help her with her groceries. My husband promptly crossed the street to help her with her bags and I followed. She was so grateful for it. We got to talking and she has had a very interesting life building schools in south America, Vietnam, Africa, and Asia. I was in awe of her until she started speaking about the Jews. I'm sure she said she understands why the Germans did what they did....then she hands us something about the golden rule. I'm pretty flabbergasted and I hope I just heard wrong.

If countries like South Africa and Turkey and Jordan can handle taking in refugees, what is our excuse? We are the richest country in the world. God forbid we reprioritize our spending.

Just wanted to say I'm the person that said races can smell different because of diet, and I'm not the same person that said white people stink or black people stink or whatever. Actually, it is entirely reasonable. If you eat a diet traditional to your country, you will smell different to someone who eats something else. I've been travelling all over the world, and it's true. Indian and Sri Lankan people tend to smell differently (not in a bad way) to people who eat a Western diet...I spent six months in India, and I noticed Indian people's smell when I was there, and I REALLY noticed a different smell on white people when I came back because I hadn't been around white people so long. Same with South East Asia. So actually I AM being reasonable. Perhaps Westernized Indians, South East Asians etc. don't smell the same but it's true. If you want to think that eating different doesn't make you smell different feel free. But it's fact. Have you never noticed how if you eat a lot of garlic several days running you can smell it on yourself? And many Indian people will tell you that white people stink of dairy! And if you want to think I'm being racist feel free...I didn't say anyone smelt bad, just different.

I know some South American men. They say they are liking asses best. Women cater to that there. Boobs are okay to them too but not so much as asses.

I really like summer but it makes me feel lazy. I live in South Florida, so it is hot and humid daily with a rainstorm every afternoon. But down here, people slow way down in the summer. Not many tourists. Lots of lazy days. Beach in the morning and taking lots of days off of work. I guess since we don't have an autumn I don't look forward to it.

I am worried, I'll admit. H has become obsessed with fitness and bulking up. Which is great, when your work schedule allows you to spend 2-3 hours at the gym a day like his does. But I only have 40 minutes a day at the gym. Which means that while he is steadily gaining muscle, I'm pretty much not changing at all. Still saggy here and there, normal weight but pudgy from pregnancy and hormones and living in the South where everything is deep fried twice. (yes, I have lived here my whole life. Lol) I am worried he'll get all fit and won't want me anymore. He has always promised me that if I get too fat hell divorce me (joking, so he says), but..... I'm having to come to terms with the fact that I'm not getting any younger. And I'm not getting any prettier either. So it's either work with what I have, or lose it all. Ugh. Life sucks sometimes.

If a person's relative has medical problems, you don't have to lie and say they'll be okay. Just say you're sorry they're going through it and offer to cook some meals they can heat and eat. Then do it. That's what southerners do and it is a good way to handle it. Also, don't say the Good Lord doesn't give anyone more than they can bear. It is not true and just makes the sick person or their loved ones feel inadequate for being unable to cope.
