It is never justified for a police officer to beat someone while they are handcuffed. Never.

So while the white-girls-with-cornrows contingent were crying because they got the side-eye over their hairstyles an anti-police brutality activist named Sandra Bland was pulled over in Texas for "improper signalling" beaten by the police on camera and then found dead in her cell 72 hours later. The police claim she died of "self-inflicted asphyxiation." They're literally using the same excuse used by Apartheid police to excuse the death of activists they imprisoned unjustly. This is terrifying.

Natural hair is clearly a big thing for black women. I get that. What I don't get is people in their 20s and 30s ripping apart 18 year old white girls who decided to get dreads apart on Twitter or Instagram. Calling teenagers who just didn't think things through "racist" is not helping anyone. I'm also curious as to who is "black" enough to wear dreads without being called out by the internet hair police. Is a bi-racial girl with white skin but afro hair black enough? America's entire culture is appropriative. As an Irish person I am not appreciative of Americans running around calling themselves Irish and the tacky fiddle playing green-painted pub image they splash around as being part of "Irish culture". I guess it doesn't matter because even though Irish were also slaves who were treated like shit both by the English in Ireland and in the United States, we all all white and therefore appropriation of our culture doesn't "matter".

My DH bought this wood chipper that didn't run, so he spent the evening trying to fix it. Last night, at about 11pm, he got the stupid thing running and spent a good half hour putzing around with it. Never mind that it was a Wednesday and after city quiet hours kick in. I almost wish the neighbors would've called the police to file a noise complaint because he seriously deserved it.

Baltimore CVS burning? Days of news coverage. Implications that those who did it are thugs and deserve to be routinely brutalized by the police? Several black churches burning across the South? ::crickets::

I took a civilian police academy course and the policeman instructor told us that in all the rape cases he's been involved with, the woman was wearing a skirt. He was passing on to us what his observation was and had no agenda other than to observe it. There was no victim blaming, just the statistics. There was discussion about whether a rapist sizes up his victim by how easy it would be to get to the pertinent parts. Long skirts vs. short skirts, etc. It was interesting.

My step-brother is hot. He looks like Jake Ryan (Pretty in Pink), only a little more muscular and buff. He's also a police officer, so he rocks a uniform. Before everyone OMGs this, I'm in my 40's, he's in his 30's, our parents didn't get together until about 5 years ago. Never even lived in the same state. Of course I wold never do anything - ewww, he's still my step-brother. But I can recognize hot freakin' hot he is.

Actually, a guy was murdered in my neck of the woods. He took photos of teenagers damaging his flowers after being repeatedly harassed by these kids, got branded with the "peedo" label and was then beaten unconscious and set on fire. This is what I meant by "witch hunting". Not legit police investigations, but vigilante nutcases. Being labelled something like that is extremely dangerous for a man. It goes way beyond dirty looks. And is negative as fuck for society. It creates a climate of hysterical fear that does more harm than good, and media outlets just inflame it further. To be a feminist, do we really need to ignore the fact that yes, negative shit can happen to men too? If so, I guess I better hand my card back.

My dad has alz. He lost his wallet,he thinks the government took it or my BF flushed it down the toilet. My dad thinks the government messed up our plumbing as a way to let us know they're watching us. He was freaking out about how I hung my cord in my garage, I was too tired to fix it. He freaked out, I was recording it for police/doctors if needed because he was really bad. I did have to call the cops that day. He saw me recording, wrestled me for my phone, and busted it. He has broken a door, sliced my pool liner which is costing $3k to fix, goes into my room and goes through my garbage when im not home (I rip them up, he still pieces them together) and fights me about what I spend my money on. He thinks a neighbor is a government worker sent to spy on him/us. He wants all doors locked at all times.I get locked out just getting the mail from the end of the driveway. He follows me to listen to all my convos, he thinks I talk about sending him to jail.

Watching the morning news, boring story, boring story, video of cop speedily running into a man with no warning. Holy shit. So the victim was "armed and suicidal" and just stole a gun and they "wanted to stop anything from happening" but jesus christ, use a fucking tazer. The guy was just walking. I usually think the cries of police brutality are a bit of a reach but this one could have been handled much beter.
