On our town's Facebook page yesterday, a woman was saying how her family went to one of our town's nicer restaurants, and their dinner was ruined by the three kids running all around the place. The parents apparently were chasing the kids around also, like it was some game. Everyone was saying how awful it was - except for one woman. She said she sees things differently, since her nephew died...and how they'd all give anything to see him running around like that. How the kids and parents were "just enjoying life" and people should just let them be. This is the same woman who had my bff fired from a daycare for putting her little snowflake in timeout. Talk about entitled!

I am so tired of going to restaurants where there is live music. If I hear "live music tonight" i cringe. It's because they always play so loud I can't hear anyone. It's not fun going, "Huh? What?" the whole time you're out and trying to lip read. I am FINE with live music in a bar, I don't mind shouting and getting into it. But when I'm eating? I want to talk to my dining companions. Is it just me? Everyone else seems to love live music.

OMG, my DH can be the biggest tightwad. We went to a cash-only restaurant and our bill was $18-something. DH put $30 in the folder and the waitress brought him back the $12 in change--at this place, they do that and then you leave the tip before you leave. DH accidentally forgot to put part of the $12 back in his wallet because he wanted to leave an $5 tip. We walked out of the restaurant and he realized he forgot it, so he went in and actually asked the waitress--who thought she was getting a $12 tip--for the money. She was nice about it, but I really wanted to pretend I didn't know him right then.

You're not going to succeed if you develop an attitude problem and say you can't. Won't try. My immigrant MIL was left with 2 sons age 11 & 12 when FIL died. One boy was mentally disabled. She was 40, hadn't worked since marriage (before that, menial factory job). No insurance. They lived in apt. with no hot water and no bathroom door. She got a job cleaning pots in restaurant. They ate thrown-away food. She also worked on a farm picking fruit and so did her kids. Was promoted to rest mgr after many years. They saved every penny so they could buy a little house. Later built apt in back for rental income. They put bricks in toilet so wouldn't waste water on full flush. They did without things. They bought lot next door, built a duplex on it for more income. Not nice, but a good investment. Long story but when she died everything was paid for and she was worth over a million $$. This is the US. It's possible.

About the video where the male Panera manager attacks the female employee half his size-this happens more often than you think. I used to work for Friendly's restaurant and I was shoved my a male manager for no reason because he was just in a bad mood and I just happened to be standing there, and had a female manager threaten to punch me in the face because I would not stay at work longer after already working a 12 hour shift.

DH picked all the restaurants today on vacation. Pancakes, Pizza & Burgers. He travels and eats like this on the regular, but the kids and I don't. Ugh. Miserable!! I told him tomorrow we are finding something fresh , even if we just eat at the grocery store. I'm not spending the next week eating like crap. Once a day, sure it's vacation! But no, not every meal.

Just discovered trader ming's cha siu bao Chinese style pork buns. Yum. Almost as good as the manapua I get at a Hawaiian restaurant, or when family makes it only better because trader Joe's is right down the street.

Daughter's dad cancels his own father's day because "Oh I have work after and having her before work will make me too tired." Dude, what do you think I'm doing everyday before work? I take care of her before and after work everyday. This includes homework, meals, showers, laundry, everything. And you can't even visit her for a couple of hours on father's day because your job at that fast food restaurant is too tiring? She had a gift for you and everything. Couldn't even spare a couple of hours. Cancelled the morning of. And sent me a text saying, "just tell her im sorry", can't even call her. Where's your head at, dude?

There's this morning show that's produced by our local news station and the host interviews a lot of local chefs to make different dishes. They always pronounce the ingredients wrong..."co-hee-tah" instead of cotija, "chi-pole-tay" instead of chipotle, etc. It bugs me. It sort of makes me not want to eat at their restaurants...I guess I don't trust chefs who can't pronounce their ingredients correctly.

Omg I was so embarrassed tonight. I've been withdrawing from my antidepressant and its been awful. I went out to eat with my parents and started crying uncontrollably while we were driving to the restaurant. I couldn't stop crying and they had to drive me back home. I kept reassuring them that I wasn't sad, it was my body adjusting to being without the med, but they were still super worried. I can't wait until this crap is out of my system.
