I started the Outlander series because it's a show on starz and I want to watch, but I wanted to read the books first. I'll totally admit I jumped on the bandwagon, I don't care. I'm totally mainstream and not at all special. I like all sorts of stuff that other people like. I even enjoy McDonalds every once in awhile when I feel the need for diarrhea.

I think that most of the time, people hate on stuff (books, movies, etc) just because it gets popular. I think a lot of people have the need to feel "different", and they don't want to be part of the mainstream, so they automatically don't like it (whatever "it" is) because the majority of people do.

I wanted and tried to breastfeed my first child. I read all the books, took all the classes, hired a lactation consultant, the whole nine yards. I stopped after two months. I absolutely hated it. It wasn't the beautiful, bonding experience they all told me it would be. I just grew to resent my baby for the sore breasts, having to get up every few hours all night (and resenting my DH because he got to sleep), or being attached to a pump for a few hours every day. The minute I switched to formula was the most blissful day since my daughter was born. I finally felt like a mother and not a dairy cow. I make no apologies, and no one else who formula feeds should either. With my second child, I didn't even think about breastfeeding her. Both kids are perfectly healthy, happy, intelligent kids.

Yes Jamie Dornan, 50 Shades is not misogyny because there are more male submissives than female submissives. That is definitely the issue here (not that one scene is basically rape and there is very little real consent shown in the books). Do mansplain to us some more. In fact no, just shut the fuck up and go back to modelling jeans.

I hate playing with kids, too. Heck, even when I was a kid I hated playing with kids. I was more interested in training the dogs to do tricks or catching bugs or reading books. Maybe that's part of why I'm CF, too.

I have this FB friend that's driving me nuts. She posts all day long, yet can't handle her kids. Maybe it's cause she's on FB all day? She constantly vaguebooks "I need prayer requests, but can't say why" how annoying! She wanted to go on the Ellen show, because her DH is deployed... not anywhere bad and not for very long like most wives... just a few months, ya know somewhere "nice" and they talk everyday! She's always going on about how her daughter has autism... CONSTANTLY! You think she'd want to try to treat her normal but she is always talking about her as if that's all she is, is just the autism. She constantly posts tons of the same repetitive pictures. She has absolutely no identity outside of her kids, and she is very boring. She'll post tons of pics of like, plates or her hands or "hey I mailed a bunch of envelopes today". WTF? I'm about to delete her, a bunch of us are. I don't see how she doesn't get how damn annoying she is.

Ok, I am half Mexican. Growing up, no one ever bothered to teach me Spanish or encouraged it. I grew up knowing I couldn't talk to my grandmother that well and whenever I took Spanish classes and tried to talk to my family, they would laugh and jeer at me. I could never get my point across. I never laughed at their shitty English and even helped them without being rude. When I married a man whose family primarily spoke the language, they were a little patient and I learned to follow the conversation. I learned on my own through books and audio. So, here is my confession. My family didn't know I can speak Spanish and can understand it. Whenever they gossip about another person, I kept the knowledge even though they thought I couldn't understand what awful things they were saying. There is so much back-stabbing it is sick. So, finally when I overheard my stepmother and my aunt talking about me...I spoke up in perfect Spanish. Now they treat me better because I suspect they know I know all of the little secrets they told about each other.

I think that movies and books condition us to believe that love is only love if it's just like the media says it should be. I'm sorry, but not everybody is going to have a Notebook story, or Titanic, or Love Actually, or any of those things. Everybody loves differently. Just because you don't get fireworks every time you look at or interact with the person you're with doesn't mean you don't love them.

Gah, I do not care that much for the Vampire Chronicles or Mayfair witches, but these are of course not from MZB. Too much alcohol (okay one drink, but obviously one too much). Actually I gifted my AR books to friends. I am so sorry for below mixup.

Although I really enjoyed the Darkover books from MZB in the past, I threw all books from MZB in the trash. This is a novum for me, as a book lover normally if I do not like a book, I will give it away, sell it, but will not destroy it. I just had to learn that Marion Zimmer Bradley was an enabler for sexual abuse of kids, and she herself was heavily abusing and mistreating her daughter. I feel sick thinking about it, and I will/can never read one of her books again. And with this knowledge I am totally weirded out by the Vampire Chronicles and the Mayfair witches series. Just yuck, yuck, yuck!!!
