Alert! R/P! I didn't worry about my dh at all during my labor and delivery. He "worried" about me! I definitely was concentrating and he helped me to remember my breathing exercises and was there for me the whole time. I lay in the tub doing my breathing routine while he hosed me down. It was great. I got to the hospital at midnight and gave birth at 3am. No drugs. I wanted someone there to be my advocate in case something went awry. It was me, dh, the L&D nurse and midwife. No doctors, no extraneous medical personnel. Quiet, relaxed, I felt in control and calm. That's fine for you that you didn't miss your dh during delivery OP, but I would have missed mine. All birth plans are individualized, right? It's not bullshit to have your life partner there to be your advocate and helper during labor.

When I gave birth to my son, former dh was in the room, along with about 5 female nurses, the male doctor, and the male anesthesiologist. My legs were as spread eagle as they could possibly go, so approximately 8 faces viewing my vagina and asshole. lol! It was hardly an intimate moment. But even with all of those people in the room, I didn't want my mother there, my sister, my best girlfriends, and certainly not my MIL. There is something gross about that to me. Having my dh there was special because it was his baby too and he was used to seeing my naked body. The medical team was there to do a job and didn't know me personally. The thought of having my family and friends present as well to view my private parts really creeps me out for some reason.

Dh & I had 2 children. The 1st time the basketball playoffs were on. He was eating burger king & I wanted some so bad. He said, "No. The nurse said all you get is ice chips." I didn't have any pain meds or an epidural. I was hungry & cranky as hell. 10 years later we had our son. I wasn't cranky or hungry. The only thing dh asked is if I could wait 30 more minutes so our son would be born on the 20th. Our dd's bday is on the 20th. He cut both of their cords. He was pretty helpful and so full of love.

I had my six week exam today and was so happy that the OB didn't have to put the thingy in my vagina! I had extreme anxiety while there and my blood pressure was 140/88 ugh! I told the nurse that my anxiety was high when she said "oh wow". I was anxious about the appointment, taking my son out to the appointment, and I get anxious about breastfeeding in public, I worry about him crying and people getting mad. I need to go back to not giving a crap! I am glad it is over.

My DH can't even handle watching blood get drawn without feeling like he's going to pass out. If he did decide to be in the delivery room, he would not be watching the baby come out, that's for sure. He'd stay by me and look at just my face and let the doctors and nurses deal with the baby stuff.

My DH was there for the birth of our child. Looking back, he was great! But during the labor, I didn't want him around and he was getting on my nerves. I kept whispering to the nurse how much he was annoying me and she just comforted me and kind of laughed at me. Once the baby was born though, I was so in love with him LOL. But all in all, he was awesome and took care of me. I don't know why I didn't want him in the room or near me, but I knew it would break his heart if I didn't let him be there. Thank god for that nurse letting me vent to her.

Firstly, I never made out like anyone had it easy, nor that current twenty somethings have it worse than others. Just that pretty much every one of my peers had their expectations smashed when they left university and entered the job market...any entitlement is long, long gone. I was simply I just I also find it hilarious that it's OK to be judgmental and ageist against an entire generation and yet when one of that generation responds in kind the shoe is on a different foot. Not nice being singled out for your age is it? No, to me hag doesn't refer to appearance it's a mean bitch with a nasty attitude who's judgmental of other people around her. As for old, you can be old in age or old in attitude. Stop being such a cunt. And an old haggish one at that. Go nurse your fucking hangnail.

Dating was fun at times. I was single again at 40 and "got back out there" with a vengeance at first. I dated a few people and had some fun. The hard part came when I fell really really hard for this one guy in particular. We had an amazing first date. Then it got weird. Where we had first emailed each other constantly, it fell to about once per week. Then it trickled down to once every few weeks. No talk of a second date. I stifled my hurt feelings, realizing he was just freshly divorced and perhaps didn't want a commitment, and let us slide into the Friends Zone. Then a few months later he asked me to go out for New Year's Eve. I said yes but stated it would only be as friends. He was OK with that. We had an amazing NY Eve, it ended up with us back in bed with each other and spending an entire weekend together. Still no talk of being exclusive, but I assumed. Later found out he was still "conversing" with other women online. I ended things saying it was too ambiguos and confusing for me, the entire time aching inside because by now I was totally smitten. Months go by, we email occasionally. Then he asks me out again for dinner. Dinner went fantastic, of course we end up back in bed, this time he wants an exclusive relationship, the whole works. By month four of dating, we are proclaiming our love for one another. A year goes by, he moves in. We are happily in love. Then I find out he's still "conversing" with women online. My gut had been telling me for a while something was amiss, it was a relief to catch him redhanded. He shamefacedly admitted to being in touch with other women but "did not do anything with them". I kicked him out. I cried for weeks and lost ten pounds. This was eight years ago. I'm now in a solid relationship with someone and when I look back at that first year of dating I just can't believe all the pain, heartache and drama....I should have just NOT DATED for a year or two. I was so fragile at the time, so easily smitten, so easily hurt. This guy was a total flake who yanked my heart around and I believe, used me as s safe landing place to nurse his own wounded feelings. I hope I never have to be back out there.

For anyone dealing with gestational diabetes, the general advice should be to follow a diabetic style diet, not something trendy. I hope the nurse or doctor at least gave you a meal plan.
